Sfântul mucenic Iuliu, veteranul a trăit în secolele III – IV, fiind contemporan cu Sfinţii mucenici Pasicrat şi Valentin. A primit mucenicia în vremea marii persecuţii din vremea împăraţilor Diocleţian şi Maximian, în anul 304. Biserica Ortodoxă îl prăznuieşte în ziua de 27 mai.

În plin regim comunist, în primăvara anului 1986, avea să se descopere la Mănăstirea Neamţ în chip minunat un sfânt care, deşi a rămas necunoscut, transmite până astăzi chemarea la credinţă într-o tăcere deplină. Astfel, într-o zi liniştită de sâmbătă, în data de 24 mai, în jur de ora 15:00, în aleea ce duce dinspre clopotniţă către Biserica „Înălţarea Domnului" a apărut din senin o „burdujire" de aproximativ 50 de centimetri lungime, care avea în partea de mijloc înălţimea de 20 centimetri, ridicătură care era foarte vizibilă şi împiedica mersul. În zilele ce au urmat, monahii mănăstirii au săpat, căutând o presupusă canalizare afectată de vreo infiltraţie, dar au scos la iveală moaştele unui sfânt. Mulţi dintre cei cuprinşi de felurite boli şi neputinţe au primit uşurare şi chiar vindecare deplină, fiecare după măsura credinţei sale, la racla cu sfintele moaşte a Sfântului necunoscut de la Neamţ.

5. Cutiile de medicamente nu aveau capace de securitate, si nu existau atatea dispozitive de securitate pentru usi si sertare...
6. Cand ne plimbam cu bicicleta nu aveam nici casca de protectie si nici protectii pentru coate si genunchi … Si cat de tari ne credeam cand puneam o bucata de plastic sau de carton la spitele bicicletei ca sa faca zgomot.
7. Beam apa de la robinet, de la teava din gradina, de la furtun, sau de oriunde gaseam. Cand ne era sete, pur si simplu beam apa. Nu conta. Nimeni nu se gandea la sticla de apa minerala. La cea de apa plata nici atat.
8. Pierdeam ore construindu-ne un carut dintr-o placa de lemn, niste tevi si niste rotite ramase de pe la role sau cine stie de unde si daca aveam un prieten cu bicicleta ne lasam trasi de el... In susul pantei ne dadeam seama ca, de fapt, noi nu avem frane !!!
9. Dupa cateva cazaturi mai zdravene am invatat cum sa rezolvam problema... Ne opream intr-un copac. Sau ne tranteam pe jos si lasam caruciorul se de duca singur la vale mai departe. A, da ! Pe vremea aia erau mult mai putine masini.
10. Ieseam afara sa ne jucam si singura conditie era sa fim acasa la ora mesei … Sau cand se intuneca.
11. Mergeam la scoala, desigur. Dar veneam acasa abia dupa ce sterpeleam toate fructele verzi care le gaseam in copacii de pe drum …
12. Nu aveam telefon mobil si nimeni nu stia pe unde ne pierdem timpul. De neimaginat !!!
13. Ne juleam, ne taiam, ne pierdeam cate un dinte, ba chiar ne rupeam cate un picior. Dar niciodata nu a fost vreo plangere pentru aceste accidente … Nimeni nu era vinovat … Doar noi insine.
14. Mancam tot felul de bazaconii: Un colt de paine, un biscuite, o ciocolata, ba chiar si turturi de gheata … Beam Cico sau tot felul da bauturi pline de zahar si carbohidrati … Dar nu aveam niciodata probleme cu greutatea pentru ca petreceam toata ziua afara jucandu-ne si alergand.
15. Ne strangeam cate 4 – 5, ne numaram banutii si mergeam sa ne cumparam impreuna o sticla cu limonada. Si sticla de 1 litru era de sticla… Beam toti din aceeasi sticla, careia ii stergeam gatul intai cu mana, si nimeni nu a murit din asta.
16. Nu aveam Play Station, MP3, Nintendo 64, XBox, Jocuri Video, 99 de canale TV prin cablu, cinema maison, sunet “surround”, telefoane mobile, calculatoare, “chat-rooms”, Internet, etc ... In schimb: Aveam prieteni adevarati !!!
17. Ieseam afara, luam bicicleta sau mergeam pe jos pana la prietenii nostri, sunam la usa… Sau intram pur si simplu fara sa sunam si… Ne puneam pe joaca.
18. Acolo, afara ! In lumea asta cruda si violenta ! Fara ca cineva sa ne pazeasca !
19. Ne jucam cu bete, cu mingii, de-a ratele si vanatorii, de-a hotii si vardistii, de-a v-ati ascunselea, frunza, elasticul … In echipele pe care le formam era mereu cineva lasat pe dinafara. Dar asta nu era nici o tragedie.
20. Unii nu erau elevi buni. Daca nu aveau note de trecere ramaneau repetenti. Nimeni nu ajungea la doctor sau la psihiatrul scolii pentru asta. Inca nu exista dislexia si nici tulburarile bipolare. Pur si simplu repetau clasa si atat tot.
21. Aveam libertate, succese si esecuri. Aveam responsabilitati... Si pur si simplu am invatat sa le facem fata.
22. Faci parte din una din generatiile astea? Daca da, acorda-ti un minut de maditare si trimite acest mesaj prietenilor tai. Poate pentru un minut vor uita de viata agitata pe care o duc si vor redeveni copiii de alta data. Unii probabil vor spune: «Doar atat?! La asta se rezuma tot ? !!! » Dar... Ce FERICITI eram noi atunci ..... !!!
