In 2021, Coperion began production of its durable biomaterial using ZSK technology and participated in the Chinaplas trade show in China. Ulrich Bartel became the new president of Coperion, while the company launched an award-winning extruder control and supported research in smart production solutions for lithium-ion batteries. Coperion is also advancing chemical recycling and improving pet recycling processes through various collaborations and innovations.

place at Shenzhen World Exhibition
& Convention Center, China.

5. Ulrich Bartel assumed leadership of the Coperion Group
as President of Coperion, succeeding Kimberly K. Ryan,
who was appointed Executive Vice President of
Hillenbrand, Inc. (Coperion’s parent company). Markus
Parzer followed Ulrich Bartel as President of the
Polymer Division.

6. Coperion launched an updated CSpro
Extruder Control with a new graphical user
interface. The control interface was awarded
the 2021 IF Design Award in the Product
Interface category.

7. As a project partner, Coperion supports the Technical
University of Braunschweig in the research of smart
production solutions in the extrusion of battery compounds.
The overriding aim of the "DaLion 4.0" project is to develop
new Industry 4.0 approaches for the production of lithium-
ion batteries.

8. Coperion supplies a twin screw extruder to Ghent
University for chemical plastic recycling. Chemical
recycling is a very active research topic at Ghent
University and aims at overcoming the limitations
of mechanical recycling.

9. Improved FDA-Compliant Bottle-to-
Bottle Recycling Process: PET flakes
can now be processed without pre-
drying into pellets using Coperion ZSK
twin screw extruder.

10. Within the framework of a joint project,
Coperion is working on the continued
development of proton exchange
membrane (PEM) fuel cells for efficient
delivery of energy for everyday mobile use.

11. Coperion was nominated for the
Stuttgart Innovation Award 2021 in
recognition of the ZSK Food Extruder in
Hybrid Design and won 3rd place among
137 applicants.
