The writer prefers dogs as pets over other animals like turtles, fish, birds, cats, and hamsters. Dogs can be played with more and are not as delicate as turtles. While the writer also likes fish, they cannot interact with them as much as dogs. Birds must remain caged and cats are not very affectionate. The writer's favorite pet is dogs since they provide companionship and opportunities for play.
