5K COLOR RUN AND FAMILY FUN EVENT
Event information: This is a fun (not timed), race and family fun day that will be held on the front lawn of Glen Oaks
Community College near the baseball and softball fields. There will be activities for children that include an obstacle
course with Color for children grades K-5, and the race is available to anyone. Children ages 0-5 participate with a
PARENT for free. Elementary students must also be accompanied by a PARENT (K-5) and their entry fee covers the
fun day activities as well. FUN DAY ONLY option also available for students grade K-5.
Date, time, location: This event will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 9am-12pm at Glen Oaks Community
College, 62249 Shimmel Road, Centreville, MI 49032.
Registration: Registration forms are available on the college web site, in the Fitness/Wellness Center, GOCC recep-
tion window and at The Oaks Store.
1. Locate the registration form online at glenoaks.edu, fill in the blanks and print the form. Send the form with a check
to Glen Oaks Community College Fitness/Wellness Center, 62249 Shimmel Road, Centreville, MI 49032.
2. Visit the Fitness/Wellness Center at Glen Oaks to make payment with cash or check. A completed registration form
must accompany payment.
3. Visit The Oaks Store on the GOCC campus if you wish to make payment with check, cash, credit or debit card. A
completed registration form must accompany payment.
Packet pick-up: Race registration packets may be picked up prior to race day, in the Fitness/Wellness Center from
9am to 7pm on Wednesday April 23 and Thursday April 24. Packets will be available race day starting at 8:30 am.
Entry fee: RACE: Early entry deadline, April 12, 2014: $25 per participant. Late entries accepted with no guarantee
that “goodie bag” items will be available for those not meeting the early entry deadline. Late registration $35. Goodie bag
includes: white race t-shirt to wear during the race, sun glasses, bib number, extra color to throw at end of race.
FUN DAY: Grade K-5 students may participate in fun day only for $5. Pre-registration is recommended but not required
(face painting $.50 to $2 extra). Price covers craft booth, cookie decorating, color, obstacle course, light snack and
more! Participants should wear clothing that can be damaged, however white collects color most effectively.
Course Description: Race will be a cross country 5K that will be partly in grass, and partly on paved drives,
including some hills. Not appropriate for strollers that are not all-terrain . Obstacle course will be set up on the lawn be-
tween the main drive and the baseball/softball fields. Finish line and DJ Dance Party Finish will be on the south side of
the athletic field parking lot.
Parking: All participants must park in the regular GOCC parking lot. Vendors and Sponsors ONLY may park in
athletic field area.

2. Glen Oaks Community College
Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk for Color Run
Glen Oaks Community College (the “College”) seeks to make certain recreational activities, including use of its property
and facilities available to students, faculty, staff, and other community members for activities such as this Color Run
(hereafter “Activity”). As a condition of being permitted to participate in the Activity, you must read and sign the following.
1. Assumption of Risk. This Activity involves inherent risks, including, but not limited to the risks of illness, injury or
death from falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity,
traffic and the conditions of the road, course, or property, property damage, illness, injury, and death. Knowing
and understanding these risks, I voluntarily choose to participate in the Activity and assume all risks inherent in
the Activity.
2. Acknowledgment of Physical Fitness. You acknowledge that to the best of your knowledge, you are in
sufficiently healthy physical condition to safely participate in the Activity. The College encourages all participants
to check with their personal physician to determine if it is safe to participate in this Activity.
3. Release of Liability. The College disclaims all liability, on its own behalf and on behalf of its elected and
appointed officials, employees, agents, students and volunteers (collectively “Releasees”), for any damage or loss
you suffer as a result of participating in this Activity, even if such damage or loss is caused by negligence of the
College or Releasees. By participating in this Activity, you agree to release the College and all releasees from all
liability and damages resulting from your participation.
4. Indemnification. The College disclaims all liability, on its own behalf and on behalf of its elected and appointed
officials, employees, agents, students and volunteers (collectively “Indemnitees”), for any damage or loss you
cause to third parties while participating in this Activity. By participating in this Activity, you agree to indemnify
and hold harmless the College and Indemnitees for any such damage or loss. You further agree to reimburse the
College for any cost, including without limitation, actual litigation costs and attorney fees the College incurs to
defend against any claims made against it by any third party stemming from your participation in this Activity.
5. Insurance. All participants are encouraged to have medical or hospital insurance to cover costs associated with
illness or injury resulting from participation in this Activity. The College does not provide medical or hospitalization
insurance, and is not responsible for any costs associated with injury, illness, or death that results from your
participation in this Activity.
6. Compliance with Rules, Regulations, and Agreements. You agree to follow all rules posted by the College
governing participation in any or all of the recreational activities, including, without limitation, rules that address
terms of participation and safety precautions.

Release for Minors
