This document discusses color interaction and principles as outlined by Michel Eugène Chevreul and Josef Albers. Chevreul studied how the presence of one color affects another color seen next to it, known as simultaneous contrast. Albers later identified three principles of color interaction: light/dark value contrast creates the illusion of light and shadow; complementary colors create a vibrant reaction when placed next to each other; and subtraction occurs when a color is seen against a background color.
