The document compares features between Adobe ColdFusion 10, 9 and 8 across different editions (Enterprise, Standard). ColdFusion 10 includes many new features and improvements over previous versions. Some features are restricted or have limited capabilities in the Standard edition compared to the Enterprise edition.
At wooga the separate game teams operate their own games. That means that two developers not only develop the backend for a social game but they also the administrator's part.
This presentation gives an insight on how this is done, what tools are used and how the most important challenges were solved.
Games for the Masses: Scaling Rails to the ExtremeWooga
This presentation explains and compares the work of two engineering teams that build Facebook game backends at wooga: Cloud vs. dedicated servers, SQL vs. NoSQL and in-memory database vs. a database hierarchy. He will highlight their respective advantages and disadvantages and discuss some common patterns both teams came up with to solve their problems.

Escape the defaults - Configure Sling like AEM as a Cloud ServiceRobert Munteanu
AEM as a Cloud Service is using the same battle-tested core of Sling, Felix and Jackrabbit Oak that you are used to. Many of the large-scale architectural changes, such as container-based deployments, separation of code and content, horizontal and vertical scaling, etc, are made possible by a host of reimplementations of APIs exposed by the open-source projects that serve as the foundation of AEM.
In this talk we will explore a number of such extensions and their implications, such as Oak's principal-based authorization, getting up and running with the composite node store, or indexing in a separation of content and apps scenario.
After this talk participants will have a better understanding of various under-the-hood changes present in AEM as a Cloud Service and their practical implications for AEM development. They will also be able to set up their own tweaked Sling instance so they can experiment with such a setup.
Slaying The Legacy Dragon: Practical Lessons in Replacing Old SoftwareTim Berglund
Everyone hates the legacy application and wants to replace it. You're tired of the brittle, untested code, the outdated frameworks, the platform nobody cares about anymore. You want to apply current practices and the productivity gains of today's tools. Usually this is just a frustrated dream, but every once in a while, you actually get to do it. That's great news, but it raises a question: how do you do that?
In this presentation, we'll examine the issues encountered by a business undertaking the enormous effort of replacing a key legacy application with a new technology stack. We'll explore the technology, business, and people problems that can result, looking at specific technology solutions for a slow and careful migration of business-critical functionality off of one system and on to another of a very different kind.
Systems Monitoring with Prometheus (Devops Ireland April 2015)Brian Brazil
Monitoring means many things to many people. This talk looks at Systems Monitoring, that is how to keep an eye on a given system and use this as part of overall management of a system. This talk will cover Why one monitors, What to monitor, How to monitor, the general design of a monitoring system and how Prometheus is a good fit for this in terms of instrumentation, consoles, alerts, general system health and sanity.
Prometheus is a next-generation monitoring system publicly announced earlier this year, developed by companies including SoundCloud, locals Boxever and Docker. Since launch there has been wide-spread interest, and many community contributions.

Systemd is in all the major distributions nowadays and there is a lot of ways you can take advantages of it. It provides an easy way to manage your system and your services and interacts closely with the kernel features added in the last years like cgroups. This talk will show you how to get the added value of systemd and easily do a lot of things that were complicated in the past.
Free The Enterprise With Ruby & Master Your Own DomainKen Collins
On the heals of Luis Lavena's RailsConf talk "Infiltrating Ruby Onto The Enterprise Death Star Using Guerilla Tactics" comes a local and frank talk about the current state of Open Source Software (OSS) participation from Windows developers. Learn what OSS is, what motivates its contributors, and how OSS can make you a stronger developer. Be prepared to fall in love with writing software again!
We will start off with a 101 introduction to both the Ruby programming language and the Ruby on Rails web application framework. You will learn about ActiveRecord, a powerful ORM that maps rich objects to your databases, and the latest components to use it with SQL Server. As a Rails core contributor and author of the SQL Server stack, I will give you a modern insight into both that will allow you to leverage your legacy data with Ruby.
Lastly, I will review the bleeding edge tools being actively created for Windows developers to ease the transition to Ruby, Rails and OSS from a POSIX driven world. Many things have changed. It is time to learn and perform some occupational maintenance.
Nuxeo Platform 6.0 - What's New - November 2014Nuxeo
Learn about the new features and functions in Nuxeo Platform 6.0. We will review performance and scalability improvements, new user features, native mobile functionality, as well as upgraded interoperability and integrations.
Microservices architecture has changed how companies develop and deploy applications. This change has affected testing process as well. New techniques have emerged and others have been enhanced. Does your organization wish to achieve unicorn like speed? With N deploys per day? Or a lead time (time to business value from idea to production) measured in days/weeks instead of months/years?In this session, we will not only describe how to use Istio and Kubernetes but actively demonstrate 3 specific techniques that you can use immediately following the session.
Using Liferay Portal with LDAP and Single sign-onFirelay
During the 5th Liferay Netherlands user group meeting, Sander Bilo from the Firelay team (then Proteon) discussed during a lightning talk the benefits for a portal like Liferay, its users and administrators, to connect to a LDAP (like Active Directory) using a Single Sign-on server.
ISTA 2019 - Migrating data-intensive microservices from Python to GoNikolay Stoitsev
In order for our systems to scale continuously and be resilient, they need to be constantly evolving. In this talk, I’m going to tell the store of how my team migrated a data-intensive microservice from Python to Go. First, we are going to start with the rationale behind the migration. Then we are going to go over the Python and Go tech stacks that we use. Last but not least, I’m also going to share our approach for migrating the service while running in production, adding new features and making sure there are no regressions.
