Improvements with respect to the
baseline:
 A CNISM console has been
installed on board of the Navy OPV;
 OPV and CNISM connected
through Athena Fidus link (GFE);
 Satellite imagery integration at
CNISM. - CSK Images provided by
ASI (GFE) -
 Data shared with NCC at MoI
premises.
To provide gap filler and increased surveillance capabilities for areas beyond
the typical coastal surveillance systems in the Central Mediterranean.

Integration of Enhanced Change Detection and Vessels Detection
services into the CNIMS environment to contribute to COP content.

CSK Data were acquired and processed and the image was generated in Matera Ground
Station.
TEMAS (SEnSE) Module at Santa Rosa (CNISM Facilities) was updated so to
automatically manage:
• Image COSMO-SkyMed Ingestion;
• Vessel Detection Report Generation;
• Report distribution on shared folder.

at CNISM Level
Successful testing integration of the improvements in different environment
Improved detection, tracking and Identification of suspicious vessels;
Support to decision-making process with integration of heterogeneous
data in near-real time;
Improved tactical situational picture through the use of new platforms;
Reduction of reaction time through enhanced information sharing.
The solution provided the following benefits to the users:
Enhanced RMP shared with
 OPV;
 Ministry of Interior
(Central Direction of Immigration)

CLOSEYE Project LOT1 Solution 1 –
Analysis of Impact
 SAT Gateway and SAT imagery processor were improved by means
of the assimilation of optical images as complement to the COSMO
SkyMed images.
 The delivered services based on Satellite Imagery have contributed
primarily in three areas:
1. Recognized Maritime Picture building, in support of the MSA;
2. Detection/Reconnaissance/Identification of vessels in operational AoI;
3. Automatic integration of information and data to support the operators.
 The availability of the CNISM console mirrored at the Italian OPV
cockpit has provided additional opportunity for the evaluation of the
CNISM Data Distribution improvement.
 Availability of the CNISM console mirrored at the Italian NCC.

 Technology Readiness Level:
SAT IMAGERY Processor SEnSE (TRL 6), SAT IMAGERY DIISM DISTRIBUTION (TRL 6),
CNISM Data Fusion and Analysis (TRL 8).
 Exploitation Plan:
 SEnSE Module is the e-GEOS Maritime Surveillance Platform, tailored in order to
create at Italian Navy premises the capability to operate COSMO-SkyMed based
services. Ready to be integrated in Border Surveillance Systems;
 CNISM improvements is tightly linked to the ongoing DIISM development.
 Industry Experience:
o Great opportunity to evaluate the integration of new technologies in real
environment (Improved detection, tracking and identification of suspicious
vessels, Support to decision-making process with integration of heterogeneous
data in near-real time, Improved tactical situational picture through the use of
new platforms, Sharing of real time information, Information sharing reduces
reaction time).
o Collaboration with end users to improve the solutions;
o The solution is scalable and applicable with different authorities and systems.
