Novel finishes
18.1 Introduction
The term ‘novel finishes’ is used in the sense of new types of finishes. This should
mean more than new research and development (R) ideas or patents. First, new
products should be available or be in the industrial test phase. On the other hand,
if a novel finish is successful and accepted by the market, it is no longer really new
and should therefore be discussed in a chapter of its own. So, although the content
