Squanto, a Native American, helped the Pilgrims who arrived on the Mayflower. He could speak English and helped the Pilgrims communicate with other natives. Squanto acted as a guide and teacher for the Pilgrims, showing them how to catch fish, hunt, plant corn, and fertilize the soil with fish. He became a friend to the Pilgrims and their children, and they ate and gave thanks together.
