Charles Eames was an American designer, architect, and filmmaker known for many iconic 20th century designs created with his wife Ray. He studied architecture at Washington University and later moved to Cranbrook, Michigan to further his studies where he met Ray, who he later married. In the 1940s and 50s, Charles and Ray Eames designed and built innovative furniture using new materials and technologies, as well as pioneering works of architecture like the groundbreaking Eames House. They also produced short, experimental films that explored ideas and education.
