Adam Doherty is a successful businessman in his late 30s who reformed himself after leaving the IRA. He often clashes with David McCarthy, one of the top IRA men who holds a grudge against Doherty. Doherty's mother Anne wants him to do what's right and take care of his younger brother Billy, who remains conflicted in the IRA. Rachel O'Reilly is McCarthy's wife but Doherty's childhood sweetheart, feeling torn between the two men.
