Chanda is a 16-year-old girl living in the African town of Bonang with her large family after her father and brother were killed in a mining accident. As the oldest child, she takes on responsibility for caring for her younger siblings after the death of her sister Sara, and arranges her sister's funeral when her mother is unable due to needing to remarry for financial support of the family. Chanda is described as brave, caring, and responsible despite facing hardship as an orphan caring for her family alone.

2. Who is Chanda? She is living in African town called Bonang In beginning of the book, story begins with Chanda’s younger sister’s death. Chanda is 16 years old girl who is living with her big family and she is brave and she always care for her best friend Ester. She lives with her step father because her dad and brother were killed from mining accident and her mother wanted new husband because no one will able to feed their family.

3. Loner Chanda was always been alone because she didn’t had any friends because they weren’t able to survive from terrible diseases

4. Brave Chanda was brave enough to make funeral arrangement instead her mother. Even though her sister Sara died she was responsible for caring for younger siblings.

5. Courage She is courage enough to live without his dad and she achieve that she can do things.

6. Peace Chanda doesn’t want to fight with anybody and I believe she always wants the peace.

7. Responsibility Her mother is responsible for the family so she must needed her new husband and her kids who might suffer from not getting any caring. So when her mother won’t able to care the kids ,it’s Chanda’s responsibility.

8. Kindness Chanda is always show her neighborliness to others because she is kind enough to show her courtesy.
