Start By:
A. Remove the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Remove".
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop
Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all wires, and on all tubes for
installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this
helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
1. Drain the oil tank for the hydrostatic drive into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and
Maintenance Manual, "Capacities - Refill" for the capacity of the tank.

2. Disconnect hose assembly (1) .

3. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and hose assemblies (5) from block (4). Disconnect clip (6)
from tank assembly (2) .

4. Disconnect hose assemblies (7) from tank assembly (2) .

5. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to tank assembly (2). Remove bolts (8), the
washers, and the mounting from tank assembly (2). Remove bolts (9), the washers, and the
mounting from tank assembly (2). Remove bolts (11), the washers, and the mounting from
tank assembly (2). Disconnect harness assembly (10) from the bottom of tank assembly (2) .
6. Remove tank assembly (2) from the machine. The weight of tank assembly (2) is
approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to tank assembly (2) and position tank
assembly (2) to the machine. The weight of tank assembly (2) is approximately 34 kg (75

lb). Install bolts (8), the washers, and the mounting to tank assembly (2). Install bolts (9),
the washers, and the mounting to tank assembly (2). Install bolts (11), the washers, and the
mounting to tank assembly (2). Connect harness assembly (10) to the bottom of tank
assembly (2) .
2. Connect hose assemblies (7) to tank assembly (2) .

3. Connect hose assemblies (3) and hose assemblies (5) to block (4). Connect clip (6) to tank
assembly (2) .

4. Connect hose assembly (1) .
5. Refill the oil tank for the hydrostatic drive. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual,
"Capacities - Refill" for the capacity of the tank.
End By: Install the cab. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Cab - Install".

Start By:
A. Remove the hydraulic drive pumps. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Drive
Pump - Remove".
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube
assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps
to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
NOTICE
containing fluids.

1. Disconnect hose assembly (1) and tube assembly (1A) .

2. Attach a suitable lifting device to implement pump (2). Remove bolts (3) and remove
implement pump (2) and the O-ring seal. The weight of implement pump (2) is
approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

3. Disconnect tube assemblies (6). Remove clamps (4) and clamps (5) .

4. Disconnect harness assembly (7). Remove hose assembly (8). Disconnect hose assemblies
(9) .

5. Remove tube assembly (10) and tube assembly (11) .

6. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to filter group (12). Remove bolts (13) and
remove filter group (12). The weight of filter group (12) is approximately 25 kg (55 lb).

7. Disconnect harness assembly (14) .

8. Disconnect hose assemblies (15). Remove tube assembly (18). Remove bolts (17) and
remove hydrostatic valve (16) .

9. Remove bracket (19). Remove clips (20). Remove bracket (21) .

10. Position Tooling (B) under flywheel housing (23) in order to support the rear of the engine.
11. Disconnect harness assembly (24). Remove bolts (22) .
12. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to pump drive (25). Remove bolts (26) and
remove pump drive (25). The weight of pump drive (25) is approximately 227 kg (500 lb).

1. Remove bolts (1) from housing assembly (2) .

2. Remove shut off valve (5) .
3. Use Tooling (A) to separate cover (3) from housing (4) .

4. Install Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to cover (3). Remove cover (3). The weight
of cover (3) is approximately 66 kg (145 lb).
5. Use Tooling (C) to remove seal (6) .
6. Remove ring (7). Use Tooling (E) in order to remove retaining rings (8). Remove bearing
cups (9) .

7. Mark the location of drive gears (10) for assembly purposes. Remove drive gears (10) .
8. Remove temperature sending unit (11) .

9. Tooling (D) may be used for the removal of bearing cones (12), if necessary.

10. Remove bearing cups (13) from housing (4) .
11. Remove seal (14) with Tooling (C) .
12. Remove vent (15) .
