Vocabulary log.

1. Catch up on/with:
   Meaning: To do something you did not have time to earlier.
   Example: I was ill for a fortnight and now I’ve got to catch up on the work I missed.

2. Dropped out:
   Meaning: Quit a course.
   Example: She dropped out of college and went straight into a job.

3. Meet up with:
   Meaning: To meet someone, or a group of people, in order to do something together.
   Example: We met up for dinner and then went to the theater.

4. Fall behind:
   Meaning: To make less progress.
   Example: I was ill for a week and fell behind with my work.

5. Make up:
   Meaning: To reschedule a meeting, a test, etc.
   Example: The teacher make up the test to next Monday.

6. Put off:
   Meaning: To decide or arrange to do something at a later time.
   Example: The concert’s been put off until next month.

7. Kicked out:
   Meaning: To expel from school or college.
   Example: Lisa was kicked out of school because of her behavior.

8. Read up on:
   Meaning: To read a lot about a particular subject in order to learn about it.
   Example: I’ve been reaching up on Japan as I’m going to live there next year.

9. Read over:
   Meaning: To read something from the beginning to the end in order to find any mistakes
   or to understand it at better.
   Example: Chester was reading over his essay before the class.

10. Study under:
    Meaning: To be taught by someone.
    Example: Lucas was study under his classmate´s notes.
11. Kick off:
    Meaning: The time when a football match begins.
    Example: The match kicks off at three o´clock.

12. Go for:
    Meaning: To try to get or achieve something.
    Example: When she finished college she tried to go for her own goals.

13. Knock out:
    Meaning: To defeat a person or team in a competition so that they have to stop taking
    part of it.
    Example: The reigning middleweight champion knocked out the challenger in the fourth
    round of the fight.

14. Work out:
    Meaning: To exercise in order to improve the strength or appearance of your body.
    Example: Things were going wrong for them but fortunately it all worked out in the end.

15. Work off:
    Meaning: To get rid of an unpleasant feeling by doing something energetic.
    Example: She goes to the gym to work off her anger.

16. Cool down:
    Meaning: To become calmer, or to make someone or something become calmer.
    Example: It took me ages to cool down after the argument.

17. Join in:
    Meaning: To become involved in an activity with other people.
    Example: Amelia is very shy. She never joins in with the other children’s games.

18. Twenty four seven:
    Meaning: To do something four hours for seven days.
    Example: You can access our website 24/7.

19. Get the ball rolling:
    Meaning: To start something immediately.
    Example: Let´s get the ball rolling.

20. Sleep on it:
    Meaning: To think carefully about a decision.
    Example: I´ll get back to you tomorrow, I have to sleep on it.
