Editor's Notes

  • #2 By Jorge Colon, Karlostena Davis, Daniel De Leon, Carlos Ramirez, Shantel Wilcox,
  • #3 On one night that a father is intoxicated he found himself in his daughters bedroom and fondles her. The daughter cried and the mother walked in on them. The family decides to take therapeutic sessions. The father does not recall the incident and there is no previous incident of molestation. The father decides to enroll himself on a substance abuse program. The family does want to report the incident.
  • #4 One must obey the law first instead of taking actions in their own hands. By not following the law you risk in losing your job and can even be prosecuted in a court of law. Think about what’s right and not try to cut any corners. In this case I would report the incident. I would have a long session with the mother and try make her as comfortable as possible to make her understand that one has to report this type of incident. 2. After convincing her I would incorporate many therapeutic sessions and follow ups. 3. Lastly I would respect their confidentiality by only reporting the incident to individuals that have a right to know. I might have some recording sessions with the family with their consent and use that against the father if need be in the future.
  • #5 Because this is a serious case I would definitelyfollow up and keep in touch with the family. The child was 12years old so she will have memory of this monstrous behavior that her father took part in. That calls for immediate attention throughout her life. She may need therapeutic sessions for the rest of her life.
