The Madhya Pradesh Women's Poultry Producer Company Limited was formed as a collective of tribal women in Chokipura village, Madhya Pradesh to engage in large-scale poultry farming. Depletion of forest resources had negatively impacted the livelihoods of tribal communities who depended on forests. PRADAN intervened by forming self-help groups and providing training to women in poultry rearing and management. Individual women then came together to form cooperatives. To achieve economies of scale and shield farmers from market volatility, six cooperatives joined to form the Madhya Pradesh Women's Poultry Producer Company Limited, which is now one of the largest broiler chicken suppliers in Madhya Pradesh
