A volcano can be labeled with key features including the main vent, where gases and lava emerge; lava flows, the streams of lava that emerge from the vent; conduits or pipes, the underground passageways that carry magma; magma chambers, where molten rock collects underground; and craters, the bowl-shaped depression at the top of the volcano.
