Healing of Paul from poisonous viper
And once they had made it ashore, then they knew that the
island they were on was called Malta.
And the local people showed us great kindness: for they
started a fire, and received us every one, because of the present
rain, and because of the cold.
And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and was
putting them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and
fastened on his hand.
When the local people saw the venomous beast hang on
his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is
a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, a type of
vengeance is causing him to die.
And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.
However, they looked when he should have swollen from the
bite, or suddenly fallen down dead: but after they waited for a
long time, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their
minds, and then said that he was a god.
Acts chapter 28, verses 1 through 6.
