Answer the following questions about your CAL activity BEFORE you start.
1. What is your activity? (reading, writing, grammar, listening or vocabulary)
Grammar
2. What is your goal? (What do you want to achieve from the activity?)
My goal was to learn about tense consistency, their rules during writing, doing exercises and
practicing all that I learned in class.
3. Material
I used the information in the link of the cal website and my English book.
PROCESS
4. Describe your learning process.
a. What LEARNING STRATEGIES did you use?
The learning strategies were: reading and skimming for getting main ideas about tense
consistency in the website and in my book. I summarized the rules, compared and contrasted
when and how I use them for each case, and finally the last strategy was writing a paragraph with
enough supporting ideas.
b. What steps did you take to try to reach the goals described above?
First, I read the information that was in the website about tense consistency then I understand the
tense consistency and their rules for writing, after I understand the examples about it for
answering the exercises in the website and then I do one paragraph for memorize the rules and
finally I do the exercises in the webpage verifying my answers with the answer key for checking
if I have a doubt or correcting mistakes.
RESULTS
5. Did you achieve your goals? Explain. Analyze these results by comparing goals to results,
discovering the reasons for mistakes, etc.
It was a good practice because I learned a lot of tense consistency. Answering the exercises in the
worksheet was easy because I had learned the rules for writing sentences using the consistency
and I had done the exercises in the website correctly. I think I reached my goals because I
understood the tense consistency and I can use this information and knowledge in the exams and
during I am practicing my English speaking or writing or listening too.
6. Summarize (IN YOUR OWN WORDS) what you learned.
I learn about the correct form that I need to write my texts to be clear and correct.
Grammar: What did you learn about grammar? (Summarize the rules)
Shifts in verb tense should only be done when necessary and logically consistent. If there is an error
in verb tense, the text won´t be clear to the reader.
Writing: What did you learn about writing formats? (Summarize the rules)
If we talk in past all the verbs need to be in past but if we talk in present all the verbs need to be in
present.
7. In what way did this activity help you (or not) to improve your English language?
I practiced grammar with tense consistency. The activity helped me for getting better in writing
and how to answer in possible situations that can happen in the real life.
8. Attach the answers to the exercises you completed:
A.
1. Told
2. Are
3. Memorize
4. Recite
5. Have
6. Had
7. Was
8. Arrived
