Desert The desert has rich minerals metals and more materials that have been dug up from earth. One part of the desert, called the Imperial valley, has really rich soil that gets water from the American Canal.
The Coast Region The coast region provides many different kinds of jobs. The fishing industries supplies fresh fish to restaurants and grocery stores. Many of the valuable oil comes from the southern coast.
The Mountain Region The mountain regions trees are used for timber. Timber is a tip of wood for other products. The most importing timber tree is the Douglas fir. The western side of  the mountain has a gold mines and other resources.
The Valley Region The valley industries of California has the best farming areas. The valley also has rivers help grow crops. Many fruits and vegetables grow here.
Jedediah Smith Jedediah Smith led a group of Americans overland from east of California. He crossed back thought the Sierra Nevada t the Great Salt Lake.
Juan Cabrillo He sailed north from Mexico to find a rout to Asia. He also explored San Diego.
James Cook Cook was a smart and curious student. James cook became well known sailer, explore, and mapmaker. He explored the seas around  Antarctica on a ship called resolutions.
Presidios Presidios is a Spanish name for fort. A Presidios is a home were soldiers sleep.
Mission A Mission is a settlement set up by a religious group to teach there religion and other ways of life to native people.
Ranchos Ranchos are large  ares of land where crops are grown. Were often used for animals.
Junipero Serra In 1749 he left Spain to begin missionary work. Egin
Portal Portal was a Spain solider. He led an expedition present day Monterey.
Sutter's fort John Sutter  made Sutter's Fort in 1841. It was located where the Sacramento and American River meet. He solid supplies passing through the area.
Ivan Kuskov He built Fort Ross in 1812. He was a Russian  and led a group of Russian fur t rapers. \
James Beckwourth In 1850 Beckwourth led settlers through a mountain pass in the Sierra Nevada that was named after him  later. He was an African American scout.
John Bidwell In 1841 he Wagon  Train for settlers  to go here to  Independence, Missouri.
John C. Fremont He traveled all over the U.S. Government  in the early 1840s.He wrote reports making people exited to go west
49ers  49ers got there name from coming for gold in 1849. They lived in boomtowns. They faced many problems such as fining fools gold
Sam Brannan Sam Brannan sold supplies so people could mine for gold. He was an entrepreneur. He became really rich in the gold rush.
Levi Strauss Levi was another entrepreneur. He made pants. He added metal rivets to denim pants to make them stronger.
Biddy Mason She was an African American slave. She petition for her freedom. Because California is a free state she got her freedom.
Mary Tape Mary Tape was a chines American who wanted her children to go to school. He sued the state of California.
