1. Women’s Entrepreneurship Network—Uncensored (WEN-U) Fosters
Connections and Develops Entrepreneurial Leadership
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Network- Uncensored is a group developed by the Susan
Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence that gathers to discuss a range of topics
pertinent to women leaders at Purdue University.
The purpose of these discussions is to help establish networks, create safe spaces, foster
connections and develop entrepreneurial leadership. One of such discussions took place April 6,
2016 in the aesthetic Marriott building.
Dr. Patrice Buzzanell, distinguished Professor in the Brian
Lamb School of Communication and the Director of the Butler
Center, led a group of women, who consisted of faculty, staff
and students, in the fervent discussion. The conversation
explored different topics, but the major point of discussion
focused on the rise up the professional and academic ladder.
In regard to this topic, each woman in attendance spoke about
her own experience and ambitions to move up in their
department. They also shared what they believe they must do,
what they currently do, or what they did to achieve their
professional goals. By the end of the discussion, the women
were able to connect with each other through their similar
struggles and ambitions.
If you have the desire to network with insightful
women on campus, attend one of these
discussion sessions. You can expect to not only
network at these meetings, but also garner
knowledge to develop your own skills as a leader
through the insight of these women leaders on
campus.
