Aoir08 Presentation - Spatial webpublishing and bricolagejoho07
Spatial webpublishing allows users to organize and share information spatially by mapping content to virtual spaces. This represents a shift from sequential media towards spatially positioned media. Spatial webpublishing combines textual and audiovisual content from the web to create complex presentations, similar to bricolage or Aby Warburg's Mnemosyne Atlas. It utilizes tools like Memoz, which allows placement of various media types on maps and satellite photos.
Sustainability and systems thinking are complex topics that require examining relationships and seeing wholes rather than isolated parts. Key points from the document include:
1) Sustainability considers the relationships between economic, social, and environmental systems and how impacts in one area affect the others.
2) Systems thinking frames problems by looking at patterns of change and interrelationships rather than static snapshots. It focuses on feedback loops and how systems protect the status quo.
3) For sustainability, the natural world's limited capacity to absorb waste and pollution must be respected, and systems must aim to emulate natural cycles where all outputs become inputs.
This document summarizes 14 sustainability trends for 2014, including more extreme weather events highlighting the impacts of climate change, rising costs from billion-dollar storms, threats to global food security, and impending water conflicts. It also discusses the transition to renewable energy, shifts in the fossil fuel industry, the growing economic impacts of sustainability for companies, and rising political power of developing nations. It concludes by highlighting tools and programs in Wisconsin to help businesses adopt sustainable practices.
WorkKeys is a skills assessment system from ACT that measures foundational and soft skills required for most jobs, including applied mathematics, technology, listening, reading, observation, teamwork and writing. Employers use WorkKeys job profiles to identify the skills employees need for specific roles and educators can use results to target instruction and training to help students and workers strengthen skills. The document provides contact information for a regional manager at ACT who can provide more details on WorkKeys assessments.

This document provides an overview and directory of LIFEGroups at Calvary Church. It describes the purpose and format of LIFEGroups, which are small groups that meet regularly to foster formative, caring, and missional relationships. The overview includes a list of groups sorted by meeting time/location and life stage, and a list sorted solely by life stage. It also provides contact information for each group leader in the directory.
1) A student's piano journey is a quest to obtain the lifelong skill of piano mastery through practice, lessons, and recitals.
2) Recitals are temporary goals along the journey and celebrate recent accomplishments, while the ultimate goal is a lifetime of piano skill and enjoyment.
3) Teachers can help students succeed in recitals by setting initially difficult but achievable goals, expecting and learning from failures, demonstrating success through their own playing, and regularly celebrating all successes, large and small, throughout the process.
The document summarizes the positive results of a prayer movement at Roosevelt High School in Portland over the course of two years. In the first year, there was an 85% reduction in behavior problems, the highest test score gains in the city, and increased parent participation. Vandalism also decreased. A police officer noted major improvements in school leadership. In the second year, sports teams succeeded. Partnerships were formed with local churches, professionals, and universities to inspire and support students. The prayer movement exceeded initial expectations and led to ongoing improvements at the school.
Canary in a Coal Mine: How The Music Industry Destroyed Itself and How Your I...George Howard
These are the slides from the presentation I gave at PTC (http://www.ptc.com) as part of what they call their "Marketing Innovators" series (I'm in good company, as the founder of North Face - Hap Klopp - was the previous presenter).
In any case, these slides are a distillation of the models my consulting firm uses.
The title of the deck grew out of an ancient blog post I wrote back in 2011 (http://www.9giantsteps.com/2011/04/12/canary-in-a-coal-mine-the-long-slow-death-of-flip-part-2/), which grew up a bit to become the name of a course I teach at Brown, and - heaven help me - will be the title of my next book.
