This document summarizes the brief history of blockchain in 4 phases: 1) The origins of Bitcoin and altcoins in 2009. 2) The rise of Bitcoin 2.0 platforms and Ethereum in 2013-2015 which enabled asset issuance and more complex applications. 3) The boom in ICOs and decentralized applications being built on Ethereum from 2014-2015. 4) The current phase focused on high-speed consensus protocols, decentralized exchanges, interoperability between blockchains, and layer 2 scaling solutions to address limitations in scalability and connectivity.
