Brian Lara was born in 1969 in Trinidad and grew up inspired by great West Indies batsmen. He showed a talent for cricket from a young age, scoring heavily for his school and regional youth teams. This led to his selection for the Trinidad national under-16 side. Lara would go on to have an illustrious international career in which he broke numerous records, including scoring the highest individual Test score of 400 not out and becoming the first player from the West Indies to pass 10,000 runs in one-day internationals. He captained the West Indies team three times and cemented his status as one of cricket's greatest batsmen.
