The Brazilian tapir is a large herbivorous mammal found in tropical forests and grasslands of South America. It can weigh up to 650 pounds and has a short flexible trunk and small eyes and ears. Tapirs are solitary animals that forage at night and are threatened by habitat loss and hunting.
