4. Market Visit to Singapore and Malaysia 4
I am delighted to be part of the 'Creative Technology' trade mission to
Singapore & Malaysia, an intensive six days of pitching, networking and
meetings. Joining me are 26 of London's leading creative technology
companies who represent both the strength and depth of London's Tech
sector, and I hope they are looking forward to building connections with
businesses in Singapore and Malaysia.
Thanks to support from my export programme, UK Trade & Investment
and our partners, this mission provides a fantastic opportunity to bring
together the leading lights of the technology sector in South East Asia, and
showcase the high level of tech excellence that can be found in London.
We are the tech capital of Europe with over 34,000 digital technology
businesses and home to a diverse range of sectors creating fast-growing,
innovative and highly investable businesses from 3D printing, to SMART
city solutions, FinTech, MedTech, EdTech and CleanTech.
The export of goods and services already offers incredible value to
London's economy, but we must continue to increase our exports to new
overseas markets. Adding only a few per cent more sales to customers
overseas can create billions of pounds more value for London and indeed
the UK.

The intensive six days of programme will enable each of the companies to
invest time and effort into understanding the SE Asian market, its culture,
needs and how best to build long lasting mutually beneficial relationships.
With this in mind, the companies will be participating in pitching events,
networking events and one to one business meetings with potential clients

TransferGo is a pure-play digital remittance platform for migrant workers to
send money home. We offer a proprietary digital account-to-account
solution, thus avoiding fx fees on each transaction. We focus on sending
the fastest transfers at the best price. TransferGo brings pricing
transparency and secure digital solutions to a new wave of digitally savvy
migrant workers, who aren’t interested in transferring ‘physical cash’.
Objective for the visit:
We currently operate in Europe only and are keen to build operations in
Asia. We are an FCA authorised payment institution and we would like to
meet with the regulatory authorities to start the process of passporting our
current European licence to Singapore, Malaysia and other target Asian
countries. In addition to regulatory approval we’d need to build
relationships to open business bank accounts in each of our target
markets. Finally, we’d look to build relationships with investors locally to
help us fund our growth in Europe and target Asian markets.
