Bodrum is a port city located in southwest Turkey on the Bodrum Peninsula. It was formerly known as Halicarnassus and was home to the Mausoleum of Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Bodrum Castle, built in the 15th century by Crusaders, overlooks the harbor and marina. The city is famous for its castle, yachts, shipyards, and white houses lining its two harbors. It had a population of over 118,000 in 2009.
