Medivance serves top-ranked hospitals

LOUISVILLE – Products made by medical-device company Medivance Inc. are used at all Top 10 national
hospitals ranked in a recent issue of U.S. News & World Report magazine.
Louisville-based Medivance makes the Arctic Sun, a temperature-management device used in surgery for
many critically ill patients.
“It is often said that you are known by the company you keep, and there’s no better group of medical
centers to be affiliated with than the U.S. News Top 10 Honor Roll,” Robert Kline, Medivance president
and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
The magazine’s list recognized hospitals with “unusually high expertise across multiple specialties.” Just
17 hospitals qualified for the magazine’s “honor roll” list of the nearly 5,000 that were evaluated.
The 2011 U.S. News & World Report Top-10 Honor Roll hospitals include: Johns Hopkins Hospital,
Baltimore; Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston; Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.; Cleveland Clinic;
Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles; New York-Presbyterian University Hospital of
Columbia and Cornell, N.Y.; UCSF Medical Center, San Francisco; Brigham and Women’s Hospital,
Boston; Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina; and Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Privately held Medivance was founded in 1998. The company employs about 50 people in Louisville and
another 50 or so at other locations worldwide.
