Y7 Battery Tester Project!

Assessment for the project:
- Create unique/creative eye catching design work, by hand and using MS Publisher.
- Be neat and tidy!
- Understand and research types of battery, and their advantages and disadvantages.
- Use a template to create an accurate product.
- Understand the words; VOLTAGE, CURRENT, POLARITY and SERIES.
- Read the rules for, and then safely solder using the correct technique and equipment.
- Understand what a smart material is, and how to use it in the real world.

Think of as many products as possible, that use batteries to power them.

Task 1 (15 mins):

Use the internet on the ‘tadpole laptops’ to find 10
images of products that need batteries.
Try to find different types of products that use different batteries.

If you think of any more products, add them to your list.

PRINTER. DO NOT COLLECT YOUR WORK UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO.

many different types of battery as possible.

PRINTER. DO NOT COLLECT YOUR WORK UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO.

Task 3 and HOMEWORK (10 mins):

Use the internet to research(investigate) the
advantages(good things) and disadvantages(bad things) of
batteries.
You will need to write your answers down on a piece of paper, so that you can show me
what you have found. During the next lesson, you will:
1) Cut out and stick in your pictures to page 1 and 2.
2) Label your work on pages 1 and 2.
3) Write up your findings from task 3/homework.

During this time, you will be selected one at a time to
retrieve you’re your work for task 1 and 2 from the printer.
Keep these two sheets inside your booklet for next lesson.

Copy your homework into page 4. (Advantages & Disadvantages of
batteries).
Remember to sketch your chosen battery, using a sharp pencil and ruler. Add colour to finish.

1) Share your advantages and disadvantages of batteries.
2) Decide the two most important advantages and disadvantages.
3) Evaluate what products should use batteries, and what products shouldn’t.
