Comments: This is a tough trek and involves high altitude gains and long walking hours.
Recommendations: Previous trekking experience is essential and it is important that trekkers
are fit in order to enjoy this tour. We do not recommend this tour to people with chronic problems
like asthma, epilepsy, vertigo & those related to blood pressure & heart.

The high Baralacha La is a unique pass along the Manali-Leh highway. It is at the lofty height of
16,700 ft or 5100 m. The pass itself is 8 kilometers long. Baralachala means summit with cross
roads from Spiti, Ladakh, Zanskar and Lahaul meet here and in ancient times it was part of a
trade route.
Folklore states that there were two lovers, Chandra being the daughter of the Moon and Bhaga
the son of the Sun god. To perform their eternal marriage, they decided to climb to the Bara-
lacha-la and from there they ran in opposite directions. Chandra being active and smart easily,
found her way and reached Tandi after covering the distance of 115 km (71 mi). Soon Bhaga was
found coming with great struggle through the narrow gorges to Tandi, where consequently both
met and the celestial marriage was performed. Bhaga covered about 60 km (37 mi) distance,
which was very difficult.
The two great rivers of Lahaul, the Chandra and the Bhaga, arise from the huge snowfields on
opposite sides of the pass. On the North West lies the Bhaga River while the Chandra flows South
East. Near below the Baralacha-la is having a beautiful emerald lake the Suraj tal (Sun lake), the
source of the river Bhaga.

Fitness :-
This is spiritual journey to one of the most beautiful places in Himalaya. The trek involves high
altitude trekking for 5-6 hrs daily. Previous trekking experience will be very useful.
Age Limit :-
17 years & above.
Medical & First Aid:-
This trek passes through remote region of Himalaya where professional medical aid may not be
available. We do carry with us first-aid kit as per doctor’s advice, but it is advisable to carry your
personal medicines. It is advisable to speak to your group leader / escort in case of any health
problem.

Booking:-
The trek booking will be confirmed only after receipt of 20% non-refundable amount of tour
coast.
The remaining cost is payable before date of departure.
Cancellation:-
45 days before date of departure:- 20% cost + cancellation charges
45-31 days before date of departure:- 50% cost + cancellation charges
30-16 days before date of departure:- 80% cost + cancellation charges
15-0 days before date of departure:- 100% cost + cancellation charges
Rules & Regulations:-
1. Entries will be based on “First come first basis.”
2. Only vegetarian food will be served during the entire programme.
3. The organizers will not be held responsible for loss of any valuable articles. It is advisable
not to carry any valuable article with you.
4. Participants are requested to reach on the reporting date & time. If he/she reaches late,
will be barred from participating in the programme.
5. The organizers reserve their rights to change the schedule fully or partially

Special Notes & Suggestions:-
1. Delays are expected on account of roadblock & climatic conditions. Our effort will be to
continue the trek as per the schedule & make it success. However, in such situations we
may have to compromise on days, campsite or hotels.
2. The day to day list should be viewed as ideal & “Intermount Adventure” reserves all rights
to make changes due to various reasons.
3. The altitude & distance mentioned are to the best of our knowledge & information; minor
changes are possible.
Terms Of payment:-
Payment shall be made either in cash or by cheque / DD in favor of “Intermount Adventure”
payable in Mumbai.
General Information:-
We request you to read all the information carefully.
It is environmentally friendly trek. Do not litter wrappers or plastics.
Keep chlorinate along with you & use it diligently to guard against hill dysentery.
Carry you personal medical –kit.
Average temperature expected will be as high as 20°C to as low as subzero.
Carry your own sleeping bags for hygiene purpose.
Gram (Channa) & Jaggery (Gur) provide instant nourishment & should be carried in large
quantities to satiate incessant hunger.
