George Barham spent a week in September 2015 at the WalkerCrips London office. He was shown their client valuation and information systems, including how clients are listed and ledgers. He used the dealing facility and checked colleagues' emails. Barham was also shown how WalkerCrips begins portfolio construction through geographic, sector, and company selection as well as valuation techniques for stock analysis. He saw the Stock Exchange Trading System for placing orders and achieving competitive prices through market makers. Barham also observed shorter-term trading, smaller company analysis, and how other managers construct portfolios.
