- 1. Bail Bonds Direct I bailed someone out who will not pay monthly payments, leaving me struggling for over 9 months. Finally the Bail Bonds would not except my $25 payments and sent me to collections with a balance of $950. The collection agency wants to settle with me so I can pay them off. In California what is the most percentage they can take off of the balance? They offered to take of 20%, which I still can't afford. Is there a way to get them to go lower. .
