Ms. Decker introduces herself to her new third grade class. She has 20 years of teaching experience and enjoys teaching third grade the most. She aims to help students develop academic and social skills to prepare them for fourth grade through a supportive classroom environment. The class will cover subjects like reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. She outlines expectations for homework, tardiness, and field trips planned for the year.

1. Ms. Decker’s Third- Grade Class Welcome, students!

2. Welcome to Third Grade! I will introduce you to third grade and to our classroom. If you have any questions during my presentation, please raise your hand and wait to be called on.

3. All About Me My background I grew up in Pine Creek. I attended Bay Elementary, Bay High, and East College. My experience I’ve been teaching for 20 years. I have also taught fifth and sixth grades, but third is my favorite.

13. Classroom Community Our classroom is a community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other. Our class rules are: Be respectful and responsible. Be organized and follow directions. Be on time. Be prepared.

14. Homework I will assign about 45 minutes of homework every night. This includes 20 minutes of reading. Your homework packet is due on Friday morning. If you need extra time to work on your homework, you can go to homework club during recess to work on it.

15. Tardiness School starts at 9:05 A.M. If you aren’t in the classroom by the time the second bell rings, please check in at the school office before coming to class. If you are tardy four times, the school will contact your parents.

16. Field Trips We have lots of fun field trips planned for this year! We will attend two plays at the Children’s Theater as part of our reading units. We will visit Maple Grove park and take water samples from the river as part of our science unit on the environment. We will tour a bakery as part of our social studies unit on community.
