As the final step in your journey toward your master of science degree in psychology, you will complete a capstone project that integrates the knowledge and
skills you have developed in previous coursework and over the duration of the term by creating a research concept paper and professional presentation that will
be developed for an identified target audience. You will also reflect on your journey through the psychology program and how you plan to position yourself
professionally. The capstone project is divided into three milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold to the final
submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two, Four, and Six. The final capstone project will be submitted in Module Nine.
This capstone will be assessed somewhat differently than other courses you have taken online at SNHU. There are three separate components of the project, but
they all operate together to make up the whole capstone experience and are not assessed separately. You will be evaluated on all three components as a unit in
determining whether you have demonstrated proficiency in each outcome. Your instructor will guide you through this process, keeping a running narrative of
your strengths and weaknesses in relation to the course outcomes as you progress through the class. Your work is expected to meet the highest professional
standards.

I. INTRODUCTION
In this project, you and your group will need to apply a theory of motivation from the course
textbook to a famous person of your choosing. This famous person must be someone who has a
motivation issue. You will need to 1. Explain this theory briefly, 2. Identify how this theory would
see the motivation challenge of the person you are studying and 3. Identify how this theory would
try to help this person with their motivation.
II. LEARNING OUTCOMES

Motivation is a critical part of a healthy and productive life. Overcoming challenges to motivation
plays an important role in overcoming difficult times and achieving one’s goals. By understanding
how to apply a theory of motivation to another person, you will have a better idea of how to apply
this theory to yourself.
V. DELIVERABLES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
DELIVERABLE 1 (10%): CASE STUDY “MOTIVATIONAL ANALYSIS”
For this deliverable, you will need to prepare an analysis of motivation on the famous person in which you
apply a knowledge of motivation. Your submission must have one reference for each member in the group.
Your case study must follow provided rubrics and count 1000 -1500 words. You must include in-text citations
and a references in APA style. Your submission needs to have depth and to show that you have thought
through it well and researched it well. Where students only provide content that is common sense, quite
obvious, vague, simple, and lacking in depth (ie: Our famous person should motivate himself by being positive

Action research is a form of inquiry in which a problem is identified and a series of actions are planned as a way of gaining deeper understanding of the range of possible solutions. I. INTRODUCTION
In this project, you and your group will need to apply a theory of motivation from the course
textbook to a famous person of your choosing. This famous person must be someone who has a
motivation issue. You will need to 1. Explain this theory briefly, 2. Identify how this theory would
see the motivation challenge of the person you are studying and 3. Identify how this theory would
try to help this person with their motivation.
II. LEARNING OUTCOMES
The project addresses the following outcomes as defined in the Course Syllabus:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of motivational psychology through knowledge of motivational
behavioral principles.
2. Demonstrate critical thinking skills necessary to critically assess actual situations explaining human
behavior.
3. Evaluate scientific studies with an understanding of what constitutes a valid research method.
4. Demonstrate effective communication skills by reading primary and secondary source material,
discussing course content, and writing papers.
5. Demonstrate understanding of the diverse assumptions and values that motivate us and our
behaviors.

Motivation is a critical part of a healthy and productive life. Overcoming challenges to motivation
plays an important role in overcoming difficult times and achieving one’s goals. By understanding
how to apply a theory of motivation to another person, you will have a better idea of how to apply
this theory to yourself.
V. DELIVERABLES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT
DELIVERABLE 1 (10%): CASE STUDY “MOTIVATIONAL ANALYSIS”
For this deliverable, you will need to prepare an analysis of motivation on the famous person in which you
apply a knowledge of motivation. Your submission must have one reference for each member in the group.
Your case study must follow provided rubrics and count 1000 -1500 words. You must include in-text citations
and a references in APA style. Your submission needs to have depth and to show that you have thought
through it well and researched it well. Where students only provide content that is common sense, quite
obvious, vague, simple, and lacking in depth (ie: Our famous person should motivate himself by being positive
and giving himself rewards), students will lose points. Students are welcome to encourage positive thinking in
their papers, but should also write in a way that is specific, practical, yet meaningful. To avoid providing

Overview
This course explores diversity and its impact on the world around us. Diversity influences society, and society influences diversity, creating a feedback loop
between them. We will critically analyze this feedback loop in this course through social, historical, and theoretical approaches to diversity as well as the four
general education lenses: history, humanities, natural and applied sciences, and social sciences. Each of these four perspectives allows us to better understand
the construction of diversity and its interrelation with society. From this enhanced understanding, you will be equipped to draw connections between popular
culture and your personal and professional lives, helping you to become a better-informed citizen who can make a positive difference in the world.
Issues and events in diversity have a pervading influence on many aspects of society, and how they are dealt with requires diverse knowledge and perspectives to
investigate and change. The purpose of this project is to examine a specific issue or event in diversity and how that event or issue impacts individuals and society.
You will do this through the development of a critical analysis portfolio and a presentation in which you will demonstrate your ability to think critically,
investigate, and communicate clearly. These skills are often necessary to achieve personal and professional goals across many disciplines.
In this assignment, you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes:
Analyze the relationships among culture, diversity, and self by investigating their influence on one’s discipline of study or chosen profession

This week, you will begin preliminary work on your final assignment in the course, Integrating the Field of Developmental Psychology: A Review of the Literature, which is due in Week Six. To begin, select an age group/developmental stage from the list below:

Action research is a form of inquiry in which a problem is identified and a series of actions are planned as a way of gaining deeper understanding of the range of possible solutions. The purpose of this discussion is to promote reciprocal sharing of your final action research report with others in your community of practice (your peers in this course) who would value the knowledge you have gained through the action research process. In this discussion, you will create a presentation using the software of your choice (e.g., PowerPoint, Google Docs, Present.me, YouTube, Prezi, Jing, SlideRocket, or another program) to present your findings to your school at an after school staff meeting. Overview: In Final Project Part Two, you will develop a multimedia presentation in which you will have a chance to reflect on what you have learned about your issue or event, yourself, and diversity through analyzing its impact on society. You will also be able to apply your communication skills and integrate multimedia elements to communicate your message to an audience. This milestone is due in Module Five.
In developing this presentation, you will be able to use your analyses from the first part of this project as a starting point. The reflective nature of this activity prompts you to dig deeper and consider the implications posed by the critical analysis of your issue or event in diversity. How does studying diversity affect how you understand yourself, as well as the world around you? You’ll also be challenged to incorporate a dash of creativity to enhance your message.
Multimedia Presentation: For the second part of the project, you will create a multimedia presentation that incorporates audio narration and visuals to articulate how critically analyzing your issue/event in diversity impacts your own framework of perception and ability to constructively engage in society.
PowerPoint: You are required to include a combination of text and visuals in order to support your PowerPoint presentation.
Specifically, the following critical elements (which align to the critical elements required of the presentation in Final Project Part Two) must be addressed:
I. Issue/Event: For this section of your presentation, you will introduce the issue/event and how it relates to issues of diversity and any of the topics that have been discussed in the course.
