All,
I want to give some very public praise to Saige Taff.
Background: We have a customer from the UAE called X. We recently started
producing GE1 data for them, but have gotten it wrong each time (various
reasons). Last night, we had a pass where we had 10 images/products to produce for
them. These orders were geographic projection products, produced at .41, and required
CRSS metadata (not PVL). However, a CRSS system snafu caused 5/10 products to ingest
into Order Management’s queue incorrectly as PVL format instead of CRSS. Since
MyGeoEye doesn’t tell OM anything about CRSS vs. PVL, and these bypassed QA, this
wasn’t caught.
Only when the products hit the FTP site in Delivery did this get caught. Saige noticed
that half the products looked different than the other half. He didn’t really understand
the technical aspects of the two formats, but knew something didn’t look right, and
what we were producing wasn’t consistent. He raised the red flag and now we are
taking steps to correct future X deliveries.
Thank you Saige for being diligent and maintaining a high attention to detail.
