1. Atelophobia [A-tel–o-pho-bia]
The fear of imperfection.
Working on the leading edge of the Interior Design profession, I have had my
share of run-ins with, captious, persnickety, and punctilious individuals, simply
known as, The Perfectionist. They are meticulous in finding every microscopic
and minute error in something, and their quixotic expectation of flawlessness
that they pursue, never seem to materialize. Why? Easy. Perfection does not
exist.
Hi, and welcome to my, not-so-perfect blog. As a seasoned, well-educated, and
worldly Interior Designer, I crave imperfection. Without imperfection, there
would be no room for me to grow as a professional Designer. Without growth,
well, my business would not exist, my clientele would not expand, my projects
would not be unique from one to the next, and believe it or not, after my 30 plus
years of design, I would not be able to learn something new every day.
My intention for this blog, is for my readers to learn, to discover design infused
ideas, that will aid in living life fully surrounded by beauty, problem solving and
joy!
We plan to show the progression in projects, favorite details and new
discoveries. You’ll get a glimpse into the behind the scenes process of the work of
a top-notch professional Interior Design team. We hope to unveil the hard work
and dedication it takes to design home that many HGTV shows fail to illustrate. I
will share articles or books I find illuminating, as well as work from
fellow Interior Designers, or even a delicious recipe I made the night
before. Finally, I hope to inspire, cultivate and catalyze a creative lifestyle, full of
imperfections, that has YOU written all over it.
