At work,Karronrecentlycollaboratedwithhermanagertocreate a documentthatidentifiedwaysto
improve the customer’sexperience withAHA. That’spartly whyKarronisbeingrecognizedasthis
month’sAssociate Spotlight,because she keepsthe customer’sperspectiveinmindandhasa passionto
make customershappy.
Her professionallife isn’tthe only areawhere Karronismakingstrides,thisyearshe made a
commitmenttoherfitnessby joiningpowerBlackGirls RUN.“I neededalittle motivationtostart
runningagain,andI wantedto meetpeople with similarinterest,so BlackGirls RUN seemedtobe a
natural fit,”she says.Since joining,Karronhas participatedin two5k races.Wonderingwhatkeeps her
going?“I have friends whorunfull marathons,26 miles inone day,soif theycan do it, I can pushmyself
to finisha5k,” she shares.
Networkingis fundamental
Nowadays, it’sprettycommon forpeople stayintheircomfortzone andhangout withclose friendsand
family,butnotKarron.She recentlyfoundanapp called meetup, asocial networkingresourcethat
facilitatesoffline groupmeetingsinvariouslocationsaroundthe world. The rulesare prettysimple:If
youwant to finda groupof people togo rock climbing,meetupcanhelpyoufind anexistinggroup,or
youcould create a group and connectwith people whoare interested.
“Meetup has changedmylife — I got to a pointwhere Iwantedtotry new thingsand meetnew people,
and meetup allowed me todothat. I wentto an eventonce,andbumpedintoa neighborwhoIhad
neverhada conversationwithuntil the event,needlesstosaywe became fastfriends. The appreally
helpedme broaden myhorizons,”she adds.
Servingthe community
You may be surprisedtolearnthatKarron’s mostinteresting jobwasas a FamilyPartnershipSpecialist
where she managedadepartment servinglow incomechildrenandparents. Inadditiontothisrole,
Karron alsoparticipateswiththe BigBrother,BigSisterorganization.
Memoriesare what we make them
Some of Karron’smost cherished memoriestookplace duringthe holidays.One year,she andhersister
were soexcitedaboutChristmasthatthe girlswoke upand snuckdownstairstoopentheirChristmas
giftsa little early.“We were openinggiftaftergiftwhenwe realizedthatitwasstill darkoutside.I
figuredthatwasSanta’s wayof surprisingus.Thenmysister lookedatthe clockand it4 a.m. We ran
back upstairsto bedbefore we gotintrouble.Needlesstosaywe had to act surprisedwheneveryone
got up a fewhourslater,”Karronshares.

2. Anotherfondmemory of Karronswasduringher junioryearincollege.She stayedinPittsburghforthe
summerandtook classes.“Iworkedinan ice cream store and hungout withmyfriends.Whatcouldbe
better?”she says.
