This document outlines what visitors should expect when visiting this religious group. They should expect to find a people who recognize the authority of the New Testament and pattern themselves after it, who believe in restoring the early church as described in the New Testament, and who are a group of people who love both God and each other.
We need to recover an appreciation for our work lives. I argue that Christians should begin with grace, continue in grace, and end with grace, which God provides generously for all areas of our lives.
This document discusses the Commands, Examples, Necessary Inference (CEI) approach used by the Restoration Movement to interpret the Bible and determine acceptable practices. It notes that this approach was used to conclude that anything mentioned or inferred in the New Testament as happening in the early church must be applied universally. However, over time this led to the view that "the way we do things" is "the way things must be done." The document argues this approach became too ingrown and lacked dialogue with other methods of interpretation. It aims to bring more maturity to the Restoration Movement's interpretation by recognizing the limitations of only using the CEI method.
There is a lot of confusion in Christianity as to who is a believer. Some say a believer is one who confess Christ as their Lord and Savior. Others say you are only a believer if you have confess Christ Jesus and live a Godly life. Both audio and slides can be enjoyed together at www.cmcoc.org

The document questions if worship has become entertainment rather than reverence for God. It advocates following God's word on worship by keeping the focus on God, not people, and warns against making worship self-centered. This document discusses the importance of having the right attitude based on Christ's example. It outlines four areas where developing the proper attitude is key: having an attitude of faith, thankfulness and constancy in prayer; manifesting the right generous attitude toward giving as Christ did; having an attitude of worship in spirit and truth toward God; and accepting corrective discipline from fellow Christians with the right perspective. The overall message is that having the right attitude, based on Christ's example, is necessary to move forward spiritually.
The document discusses Jesus' command to his disciples to make disciples of all nations. It emphasizes that disciple making involves sharing life in Christ and multiplying his life. The church's command is to share the word, show the word through living it out, teach the word, and serve the world by laying down lives for others. The choice is whether churches are disinfecting Christians through isolation or discipling them to have world impact by propelling them into the world to risk their lives. Effective disciple making occurs through small groups based on Christ's precedent and the early church pattern. Individual church members must ask how they will multiply the gospel with their lives.
This document is a call to prayer that summarizes different ways individuals and groups can get involved in prayer. It encourages praying for leaders and those in authority. It also suggests capturing stories of answered prayer to give God glory. The document ends by thanking people for being part of what God is doing and calls them to intentionally share prayer with others.
Our ultimate mission is to bring glory to God. This mission was predetermined in Scripture and does not change. At GBBC, we accomplish this mission through our vision, which are the specific actions we take in this place and time, such as programs, events, and ministries. These include worship, small groups, evangelism and discipleship, fellowship, prayer, and service. When the church operates according to a biblical vision driven by the Holy Spirit, it can fulfill its mission of bringing glory to God through powerful unity and synergy.

The goal is to teach on these essential kingdom subjects throughout the year.
The document discusses becoming like Jesus through worship. It provides context on Jesus' worship from Luke 4:14-21, where He regularly attended synagogue. Worship is described as an active verb, honoring God through addressing Him, service, or gathering as a congregation. The conclusion emphasizes that worshipping like Jesus means focusing on offering worship to God, not ourselves, as an expression of knowing and living out His word.
This sermon discusses why we worship God and what spiritual sacrifices we should offer Him. We worship God because He is omniscient, omnipresent, and omnipotent as demonstrated in various Bible passages. The spiritual sacrifices we should offer include presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice to God by living righteously according to His word, and offering continual sacrifices of praise, thanksgiving, prayer, and preaching about our hope in God.

The document discusses a lesson about trusting in God's power based on 1 Corinthians 2:1-16. It focuses on preaching the cross, God's hidden plan of salvation, and how the Spirit reveals God's plan and wisdom. While public opinion and what seems important to people matters, the lesson says the only opinion that truly matters is God. The conclusion exhorts trusting God's plan by hearing, believing, repenting, confessing faith, and being baptized.
The number of the disciples was multipliedslaustin
The number of disciples was multiplied after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Several key events occurred:
1) Thousands were baptized after Peter's message on Pentecost, growing the early Church.
2) There was a complaint from Hellenistic Jews against the Hebrews about the distribution of aid, leading seven men to be ordained to oversee the Church's temporal work.
3) Philip preached in Samaria and baptized the Ethiopian eunuch, showing the gospel was preached to all people.
The early Church experienced rapid growth through conversion and missionary work after Jesus' resurrection.
This document discusses the marks of a true Christian according to Romans 12:9-21. It identifies five key marks: love, morality, work ethic, spirituality, and social impact. For each mark, it provides brief explanations and biblical references. The overall message is that true Christians are defined by their love for others, moral character, dedication to good works, authentic spiritual relationship with God, and positive impact on society.

General George Washington's solution to the national crisis of 1775 in Boston is a picture of what the American Church must do now: appeal to heaven. Let's learn from American history and from the Bible. God will answer if we ask. America is in another historic crisis. It's time to make an Appeal to Heaven!
This document discusses making disciples and the process of church membership. It begins by reviewing Jesus' command in Matthew 28 to make disciples of all nations by baptizing them and teaching them to obey all of Jesus' commands. It then emphasizes that the primary command is to make disciples, rather than activities like starting programs or building buildings. Jesus' strategy was to focus on a few men and revolutionize their hearts to transform the world. The church is called to share the word, show the word through their lives, teach the word, and serve the world by making disciples through small groups that multiply the gospel.

This Bible study outline examines the New Testament model for Christian assembly, compares it to the practices of today, and suggest practical methods to ensure our modern fellowship and meetings fulfill the purpose set forth by the original apostles of Jesus Christ.
This document discusses spiritual authority, contrasting it with executive authority that comes from positions of leadership. Spiritual authority comes from serving as Christ served.
It provides examples of spiritual authority seen in Jesus' life and ministry, such as his authority over Satan, nature, and in teaching and healing. True spiritual authority is needed in the church today to combat weakness. Examples of spiritual authority include prominent figures, but also Sunday school teachers, youth workers, pastors who disciple others, prayer intercessors, and those who show hospitality. The conclusion calls the reader to reflect on whether they exhibit spiritual authority and what God is calling them to.

The document discusses how Christ died as a sacrifice for the ungodly. It notes that Christ suffered willingly through crucifixion, though he was sinless, entrusting himself to God. The document explains that Christ never retaliated against his accusers and instead committed himself to God's judgment, serving as a substitute so that believers may live righteously through him.
Where Does Your Hope Rest? (January 29th, 2012)Chris Gallagher
Jesus ascended to heaven 40 days after his resurrection as witnessed by his disciples. He promised that he will return in the same way as he ascended. Believers are called to have faith in Jesus even without seeing him and to maintain an attitude of serving him as they await his promised return. They are to keep their focus on heavenly things and renew their strength as they wait for the Lord, trusting that he will fulfill his word.
The document discusses the benefits of being "in" Christ according to passages from Ephesians and other books of the Bible. It outlines that being in Christ means having every spiritual blessing, redemption, forgiveness of sins, an inheritance, and the seal of the Holy Spirit. It notes that Paul was redeemed by Christ and knew Christ personally. Being baptized into Christ means being baptized into his death and burial and walking in newness of life.
I wrote an article on the Preacher's Pen regarding this subject and found it worthy to share as a Sermon PowerPoint.

The document discusses the benefits of being "in" Christ according to the book of Ephesians in the Bible. It lists spiritual blessings such as redemption, forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance. It explains that being "in" Christ means being fellow citizens with other believers and members of God's household, having been made alive from a spiritually dead state. It contrasts this with how those outside of Christ are futile, darkened, and have changed God's image.
The passage describes a servant inviting guests to a banquet who make excuses for not attending, so the host invites others including the poor, crippled, lame and blind instead. The parable teaches that while the Jews were originally invited to God's kingdom, many made excuses and so God extended the invitation to the gentiles as well.
This lesson covers the passage of Proverbs 6.16-19.
There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
(Proverbs 6:16-19)
God has always wanted the best for people. The document discusses how God provided a perfect home for Adam and Eve, Noah preached for years to save people, and Moses rescued the Israelites while giving Pharaoh a chance to change. It warns against being unequally yoked with unbelievers, as righteousness has nothing in common with lawlessness. God wants his people to associate and marry within his people. The document also discusses how the word "Belial" referred to worthless ruin in the Old Testament, and quotes scripture saying idols have no agreement with God's temple, as his people are the temple of the living God.
The document discusses the benefits and strength of being "in" Christ according to the book of Ephesians. It explores what it means to be "in" Christ, the mystery of Christ, and the strength that comes from being joined to Christ. It encourages believers to walk in love as imitators of God by following Christ's example of sacrifice and to walk carefully in wisdom.
The document summarizes the first retreat for a church's ReFresh 2012 strategic planning process. The retreat focused on discovering the church's core values by examining biblical model churches, completing personal and church values audits, and drafting a core values statement. The team discussed expectations, assumptions, and a theology of change to guide the strategic planning process. The goal was to lay the foundation for defining the church's mission and shared vision over the next three retreats.
The document discusses the unity of worship in the early Christian church. It defines worship as bowing down in reverent obedience to God. True worship must have God as the sole object and involve teachings of truth, not man. The early church demonstrated unity in worship, gathering and praying together. Christians are called to worship God together in spirit and truth with the right attitudes of humility, love, and unity.
CHMN 641_Theology and Practice of Worship PPT.pptxvancunglyan

It emphasizes that a biblical theology of worship is important and should be based solely on what is taught in the Bible. It outlines several key aspects of a biblical theology of worship, including that true worship must be reverent, focused on God as he is revealed in scripture, involve more than just externals and rituals, and result in lives dedicated to obeying and serving God.
WCF Chapter 21 - Religious Worship and the Sabbath Daysandiferb
This document provides an overview of the theology of religious worship and the Sabbath day according to the Westminster Confession. It discusses that worship should only be given to God as he has prescribed in scripture. It outlines the proper elements of worship including prayer, singing, scripture reading, and the sacraments. Worship... discovering the missing jewelTeddy Jones
This document discusses the topic of worship. It provides definitions of worship from various sources that describe worship as connecting with God through one's conscience, mind, imagination, heart, and will. The document stresses making a plan to incorporate daily prayer practices like Mass, Divine Office, and daily Scripture reading. The goal is drawing near to God through Scripture to experience interior change and become more holy.
The document discusses the nature and types of prayer. It defines prayer as speaking and listening to God and desiring to be united with God and do his will. The principal activities of prayer are described as adoration, thanksgiving, repentance, and intercession/petition. The document outlines different forms of prayer including vocal, liturgical, meditative, and contemplative prayer and discusses difficulties in prayer and how to overcome them. Regular prayer, scripture, devotionals, and the saints are presented as aids to developing an effective prayer life.
The document discusses the purpose of Christian assemblies based on passages from the New Testament. It argues that the main purposes of assemblies are for worshipping God, teaching God's word, edifying and encouraging believers, correcting sin, and evangelizing non-believers. Assemblies should include activities like prayer, singing, studying scripture, and preaching. The overall goal of assemblies is to please God and serve others, not just to have our own needs met. Understanding the biblical purposes of assemblies can help Christians better participate in and benefit from them.

The document provides guidance on how to become a person of prayer. It begins with Jesus' model prayer from the book of Matthew. It then defines prayer as communication with God where one requests things from God, praises God, and addresses God. It encourages meditating on God and prioritizing his word. It advises talking to God daily by sharing problems, thanks, and sins. It suggests connecting with God, daring to pray like Daniel, and praying thankfully, in difficult times, and encouraging others, as Paul did.
This lesson was presented at the Gadsden Church of Christ on March 15th to share the need to reach out to the world. Mathew 14:22-32 as the text. As Jesus reached out to a sinking Peter, we need to reach out to a troubled world.

God's definition of good is conformity to his will in order to live with him eternally. Several verses in Romans chapter 8 qualify this, explaining that through the Holy Spirit, believers can realize God's goodness and strengthen their relationship with him. Specifically, the Spirit helps believers, intercedes for them, and those in Christ have God on their side. To experience God's goodness, one should be in Christ, focus their mind on spiritual things, communicate with God in prayer, and live according to his purpose.
This lesson was presented on February 15, 2015 as part of a series on Love. This specifically discusses the situation of the man who fell among robbers and asks the question if we are too busy in our world.

Each habit is accompanied by a brief explanation and biblical references. The habits are presented as effective strategies for Christians to have spiritual conversations based on Jesus' example in John 4.

Additional quotes emphasize that work should be done wholeheartedly as for God, that labor deserves wages, and that those unwilling to work should not eat. The document suggests reflecting on what you will do when your work is done and questions about when you will retire or spiritually retire.
David gave his son Solomon final words of advice, challenging him to act responsibly, walk with God, and obey David's commands. It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

Assault on Worship
1.
2. The Assault on Worship
• Does our worship need a face-lift?
• Does the changing world mean there should be
changes to our worship?
3. The Assault on Worship
“If an entertaining medium is the key to winning
people, why not go all the way? Why not have a
tattooed acrobat on a high wire juggle chain saws
and shout Bible verses while a dog balanced on
his head. That would draw a crowd and the
content of the would be Biblical.”
(John MacArthur)
4. Four Types of Worship
• Ignorant worship (Acts 17.23)
• Vain worship (Matthew 15.9)
• Will worship (Colossians 2.23)
• True worship (John 4.24)
5. Worship must meet approval
• Worship must meet certain necessary elements:
• It must be directed to God – the right object
(Revelation 22.9)
6. Worship must meet approval
• Worship must meet certain necessary elements:
• It must be done in spirit – it must be done out of
the right motive, for the highest purpose (John
4.24).
7. Worship must meet approval
• Worship must meet certain necessary elements:
• It must be in truth – according to God’s Word
(John 17.17).
8. Worship must meet approval
• Worshiping God to meet our approval is to offer things
that are unauthorized (Leviticus 10.1,2).
• Nadab and Abihu may have been sincere, but they
did not sacrifice in truth.
9. Remember
• Remember, true worship has:
– the proper audience–God
– the proper attitude–in spirit
– and the proper actions–in truth.
