Yas is an Iranian rapper who began writing after an earthquake to cope with the tragedy and faced criticism from audiences unfamiliar with rap music in Iran. Over time, his efforts proved successful as six of his 10 songs were granted official permission to be released in Iran, which has strict music laws. Due to his successful albums, Yas has been interviewed by major media worldwide and signed with an American music publishing company, achieving recognition abroad.

Yas is an Iranian rapper who first began writing after the Bam earthquake in Iran, he had a lot
of criticism from an audience unaccustomed to rap music however his efforts were eventually
successful. As of 2009, six of his 10 songs were granted permission to be released in the Islamic
Republic of Iran which is an accomplishment in itself as the music release in Iran is very strict.
One of Yas song included “CD-ro Beshkan” ("Break the CD"), about a sex-tape which destroyed
the career of an Iranian actress.
Due to his successful albums Yas has been interviewed by the media worldwide, including CNN,
BBC and National Geographic. He has also signed a contract with an American music publishing
company; Modiba Publishing.
