Maranao costume, while the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English
Department glammed up with their barong and Filipiniana. On the other hand, the
Department of Medical students clothed themselves with kimona and their historical
full-length skirt called pandiling as they represented the Ilocano group, and lastly,
the AB/Math Department, who represented the Ilonggos, got themselves dressed in
their traditional woven textiles called patadyong for women and tampi for men.
They participated in different activities like Pista sa Nayon, wherein they
presented impressive cultural dances of each tribe, prepared different dishes that
exhibit their best-known foods and delicacies, and shared a brief overview about the
history of their respective ethnic groups, which made the judges and the audiences
informed and entertained at the same time.
Aside from that, the NDCians showcased their talents during the Talentadong
Pinoy, wherein they joined the Dramatikong Dayalogo, Meme Parody, and a singing
contest. After the said competition, the BEED Department was declared the overall
champion for gaining the most wins. The Medical Department got the 2nd spot, the
AB/Math Department got the 3rd spot, and BSED-English got the 4th spot.
One of the highlights of the event was the oath-taking ceremony of all the new
department officers as well as the newly appointed SSC officers, headed by Ma'am
Venus R. Bonsubre.
2. NDC fights for the
Battle of the Brains
North Davao Colleges ranked 2nd in the quiz bee competition during the Press
Freedom Day Celebration on August 24, 2022. Held at the food court of Gaisano
Grand Mall, Panabo City.
Bernard Tatoy, a 3rd year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in
Mathematics, and Glaiza Balolong, a 2nd year Bachelor of Elementary Education, are
the students who represented the school in the contest. "Pag-apil namo sa Quiz Bee,
wala ko nag expect na ma second placer mi. I doubt that I will lose because I did not
study well about the topic given because of my busy schedule. I only studied on the
day of the competition" Tatoy said. "We were in 4 schools, and our competitors were
high-caliber schools wherein they always rank in 1st and 2nd place, but suddenly,
after how many competitions that NDC attended, we finally got 2nd place, though
gamay lang ug lamang sa 1st place, which was DNSC, but I am still grateful because
my partner did her best to make it to the top 2 placements. And we are proud
because we placed our school in a higher position. Soon, NDC will conquer first
place," he added. The students are superheaded by Venus Bonsubre and Haidee
Zamoras, college teachers at the school.
The said event was attended by pairs from different tertiary schools in Panabo
City, such as Aces Polytechnic College Inc., the University of Mindanao Panabo
College, Davao del Norte State College, and, of course, North Davao Colleges. Indeed,
it was a battle of the brains because the topic used in the contest was RA 9710, or the
Magna Carta for Women, the Journalistโs Code of Ethics, and some current local and
national issues.
At the end of the match, DNSC took 1st place. NDC got the 2nd place. UMPC
