She will be greatly missed by Wasney Automotive and the community.

Wasney Automotive
It is with heavy hearts that we
announce the passing of Margaret
“Marge” Mary Wasney, matriarch of
theWasneyAutomotiveorganization.
Marge was born on March 9, 1935,
andpassedawaypeacefullyatRoyal
Columbian Hospital on January 11,
2017. Marge and her husband Ed
celebrated 61 years of marriage on
December 16, 2016.
She touched many lives with her warm, friendly smile
and motherly approach. Whether it was upon entering the
family business or in a social setting, you always felt welcome
and special in her presence. She served as the bookkeeper for
Wasney’s and always took a special interest in people’s lives,
remembering their likes, dislikes, birthdays, and anniversaries.
She recognized milestones with personalized gifts and cards
andnevermissedanopportunitytorecognizeothers.Especially
because of Marge’s love of Christmas and collectables, many
people were on the receiving end of her generosity, which
also extended to many charities.
She was one of those people who stood quietly in the
background, but through her generosity, her compassion and
kindness shone through. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the
hospital of your choice in Marge’s memory. n

the training they received. The evaluation is
intendedasafollow-upinordertoreinforcethe
programstandards.Alloftheevaluationforms

In addition to the Certified Recycler
Program, certification programs are also
underway for the glass, collision, and towing
divisions.Eachprogramhasbeendesignedto
meet the needs of its specific industry sector,
but all of the programs share the common
goal of raising standards across the board for
allofindustry.Recyclercertificationprograms
specifically have been around for some time.
TheAutomotiveRecyclersAssociationhasbeen
operating its certified program for well over
twentyyears. RecyclersinBritishColumbiahave
beenlegallyrequiredtoobtainenvironmental
certification for almost ten years now. What is
unique about the Certified Recycler Program is
the addition of its training requirement. No
other program like it exists. In fact, even the
Automotive Recyclers of Canada is taking a
look to see how the training can be applied
at a national level. The training courses were
demonstrated for members of the ARC Board
of Directors in December. Other provincial
associations may even incorporate some or
all of the training into their own provincial
certification programs.
