WHY DIY'S MAY ONLY CO$T$ YOU MORE ?
DIY or Do-It-Yourself has been popular for as long as everyone remembers because of its great benefits in saving
money and learning at the same time. Taking matters into our own hands is always a brilliant idea. Because of the
almost limitless number of tutorial videos and blog entries, projects of any size and complexity are now seemly
within reach. Every project sounds simple, inexpensive, and feasible, from tufted headboard to deck
construction. It's essential to consider the long-term costs of these initiatives. We have to think if it's a great
choice, or will we only make things worst? Let's see everything you need to know about doing a DIY project.
You can build a beautiful piece of real wood furniture
for less than $100 with only a few essential elements,
such as a top and legs. A comparable item at a shop
might cost hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars,
depending on the quality. When you make something
yourself, you may save money and get a better quality
product than buying it from a shop. As the old saying
goes, "You get what you pay for," but it's always better
to check the quality of what you're getting, especially on
furniture.

WHY DIY'S MAY ONLY CO$T$ YOU MORE ?
Depending on the type of material you need to
purchase and the supplies involved, do you think you
will save more if you DIY it? More than buying a pre-
made from a trusted store. There are many factors to
consider; one of them is using the required tools as they
also affect your budget.
Materials Cost vs. Pre-
Made
When calculating how much money they can save by
doing a job yourself, many do-it-yourselfers overlook
the value of their own time. Even if you're working on
your DIY project after-hours, it's still a good idea to
estimate how long it will take. Even if you can't convert
cash to hours, other things you may lose out on
constitute an opportunity cost.
Time is Crucial
DIY projects may be difficult and upsetting if they don't
turn out the way you expected. Saving money might be
tempting, but if the endeavour causes you undue stress,
the savings may not be worth it. Using part of your hard-
earned money to pay someone else to perform the task
is perfectly acceptable if you have the resources to do
so without taking on any more debt. Consider
contacting a professional for any DIY activity that might
bring you worry, exhaustion, or even harm.
Know that It Can Cause
Stress and Anxiety
Some tasks should never be undertaken by someone
who has not been adequately taught. These include any
do-it-yourself projects that need technical expertise
that you lack or might be harmful. Electrical work or
roofing should never be done by anybody except a
trained professional. An electric shock or a fire may
result if electrical work is done poorly. Plumbing work, if
done incorrectly, can completely devastate your house.

ARE MUDROOMS NECESSARY?
Are Mudrooms
Necessary?
A mudroom is a transitional area between the outside and inside,
primarily for footwear, damp clothing, and sports equipment. Although
they have been around for a long time, mudrooms have recently grown
in popularity as the average house in the United States has grown in size.
While remodelling or building a new home, you'll want to think about
adding amenities that are useful, appealing, and will pay off in the long
run when making your decision.
In this case, we will show you some benefits you can have if you put a
mudroom in your home.
6. www.itask.com | 05
ARE MUDROOMS NECESSARY?
A mudroom is essential to prevent the spread of
dirty shoes across the home. Only one point of entry
will be required for family members. Pet owners will
appreciate the convenience of a mudroom. The
mudroom is a great place to clean up after your pet
and keep the rest of your house free of muddy paw
prints.
Helps Your Home
Look Clean
1
Mudrooms help to keep your house tidy. In place of
scattered backpacks and coats, a mudroom may be
outfitted with all the elements essential to keep
your family organized as soon as they step in the
door. It's simple to get your kids ready for school if
they left everything where they found it.
Organise
2
Each family member may have their own cubby, or a separate
space can be set aside for washing and grooming your pets. To
eliminate the need for a separate laundry room, mudrooms
are often merged. This ensures that the place is both
functional and lovely.

ARE MUDROOMS NECESSARY?
Adding a mudroom to your home will make it more appealing to prospective
purchasers, who will appreciate the extra storage and organization it provides.
Because of its tiny size, a mudroom is one of the most straightforward rooms to
include in your home. Previously, mudrooms could only be found in a particular
part of the country, but today they can be found all throughout. In addition to
increasing the value of your property, mudrooms preserve your assets. Your
house will appear as good as the day you renovated it for a long time to come.
Can Be Easily Added and
Increase the Value of Your Home
4
The classic mudroom is being replaced with a design used in any
home, even an apartment. It may be a separate room, a laundry
room, or simply a well-positioned storage bench in today's
homes. Mudrooms are being phased out in some newly built
houses. Developers of tract homes often attempt to cram as
many places as possible into their allotted parcels.
But Why Are Mudrooms
Disappearing?
It's great, but not essential, to have a separate area for
your mudroom. A mudroom may not exist at all in specific
residences. All shoes and coats are stored in a
neighbouring closet, conveniently located in the garage.
There may not be a room in some houses, but there is a
designated location. A coat hook, a shoe basket, or a
catch-all shelf may all be used to keep your belongings
organized. There are baby shoes, kid backpacks, and dog
leashes everywhere you look! Without a mudroom, these
items might extend into the living room, the kitchen, or
perhaps the stairs in our house. As a mother of two young
sons, I can attest to this sentiment. A mudroom is a must
for a household with small children and a creative mind!

SPRING HOME IMPROVEMENT FOR 2022
A mudroom is becoming more popular among
homeowners who construct from scratch. Delivery
locations for packages and groceries, as well as pet-
washing facilities, are in high demand. Install adequate
recessed LED lights and a waterproof, easy-to-clean
luxury vinyl tile floor. Make the most of a home part
that isn't receiving much usage, like your garage or
laundry room.

Window and door replacements, and even whole walls,
to accommodate more effective glass alternatives, are
becoming more popular. Skylights and big windows
that extend from the floor to the ceiling are standard
features seen in certain homes. Homeowners who can
afford to spend a lot of money are more likely to take
on these renovations, especially in places with a good
climate.

Demand for outdoor areas increased from 61% to 71%
in a poll conducted by the American Institute of
Architects in 2021. In 2022, we may anticipate seeing
the same pattern. Setting up a completely working
outdoor kitchen doesn't need that residents leave their
homes. According to the report, there has been a rise in
people repairing or enhancing their landscaping.

Home offices have seen a 108 percent increase in
searches since last year, according to the Houzz
Emerging Home Design Trends Report for 2021.
Throughout the pandemic, many could not locate a
suitable environment to work at home because of the
move to the home office and remote learning. The
home office concept will continue to be reimagined by
homeowners, from converting guest rooms to creating
outdoor spaces.

The most straightforward and most efficient approach
to fixing squeaks is to drive screws into the floor joists
when the floor is bare. You may need to add additional
screws if necessary to eliminate any squeaking. If your
subfloor is more than 3/4 inch thick, you'll want to use
2-1/2-inch screws instead of the more common 2-
inches. Squeaky locations should be noted as you go
about the room with a pencil in hand.

Spring home renovation projects, according to
homeowner publications, include freshening up
kitchen cabinets. To give your cabinets a new
appearance for a bit of cost, replace the cabinet door
knobs and add moulding.

Have your central air conditioning system checked up
before the weather becomes too hot for comfort.
Cooling and dehumidifying your home are just two of
the many functions that your air conditioner performs
over the hot summer months. Ask the inspector
whether a UV lamp may be installed inside the air
conditioner to prevent the growth of mould and other
microorganisms.

A properly designed gutter system is essential for
water transfer and drainage. Gutter installation is
straightforward, although the method relies on the
kind of gutter being installed. If you're going to replace
your gutters, make sure you do so in the same order.
Spring has sprung, so why not give your home a new
look with your address display? Make a statement with
bright tiling or painted bricks, or go all-out for spring
with colourful pots. Spring home renovation tasks are a
terrific way to get a head start on summer work.

HOW TO BUILD A PLAYHOUSE FOR KIDS
HOW TO BUILD
KIDS
A P L A Y H O U S E F O R
Are you thinking of making something for your children? Perhaps a playhouse? A playhouse is a great
woodworking project that the entire family may participate in. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned veteran,
this is your project. Instead of vegging out on the couch with the newest electronic toy, kids may have a blast
playing in it for hours on end. Technology can't compete with an excellent outdoor adventure.
To help you in building the perfect playhouse, try following these steps.
14. Before cutting and attaching
pressure-treated joists to make a
floor structure, you must first
decide on the room's size,
placement, and layout. Frame the
pieces together with nails. Using
stakes in the ground to mark the
corners, you may put the finished
frame away for a while to complete
the next stage.
Start with the Floor
Frame

HOW TO BUILD A PLAYHOUSE FOR KIDS
Sand and flat paving stones should
be used as a level base for the
joists. You should use a level to
check that all pavers are level. This
step may alternatively be
accomplished using a piece of
string. Extra sand and pavers
should be placed in low locations to
prevent the playhouse's structure
from sagging.
Start Leveling the
Foundation
Use a post level to ensure that the
first post stands straight and is not
sagging on the outer joist. Drill a
hole through the joist and the post
and fasten it with a bolt, washer,
and nut after you are sure it is
where you want it. Repeat this
process for each of the four
articles. Make sure you use
galvanized nuts and bolts so that
they don't rust in the rain.
Put up Porch Posts
Staple roofing felt between the
joists and floorboards to decrease
noise and provide an additional
weatherproofing layer. The felt will
stop the wood from rubbing against
one other, making the floor
considerably quieter. Staples may
be used to secure the felt.
A Helpful Hint for
Laying Flooring
Start with the floors that don't
need to be notched first if any need
to be decreased. The notches may
be cut using a jigsaw. Galvanized
screws may be used to complete
the remainder of the floor
installation when they are in place.
In the case of a children's
playhouse, pressure-treated
decking is an excellent choice for
the floor.
The Floor Boards Must
Be Applied
One by one, on a level surface,
attach the actual construction of
each wall. After completing each
wall, screw it into the bottom plate
and into the floor. It's essential to
nail or screw each wall into the next
wall at each corner. There is still
work to be done, but the walls will
be more solid.
Put the Frames on the
Wal

HOW TO BUILD A PLAYHOUSE FOR KIDS
R-111 siding is what we're going with for
this build. It's important to cut each piece
to the correct size and lay it on top of the
wall studs before attaching it. Using a nail
gun, attach the sheets to the wall at
approximately 16 inches. Once the
sheeting is attached to the frame, the
home becomes considerably more sturdy,
and the wall doesn't wriggle, tremble, or
shift.
Set Up the Sheeting
Using a basic jig on the home floor, you
can easily create the roof trusses and
connect the gussets. When the project is
finished, it may be easily uninstalled.
After completing them, trusses must be
installed and secured via the eave with
screws. Once the sheeting is in place,
they, too, will be considerably more
secure.
Assemble and Install
Joists for the Roof
Install the roof sheeting in the same
manner as you did the walls when the
trusses are all in place. To prevent water
from getting into the sheeting, put a strip
of metal drip edge. Then lay the roofing
felt, beginning at the bottom border and
working your way up. Staples may be used
to secure it in place. Stack shingles on top
of the felt to finish the roof, beginning at
the bottom. Your playhouse is now
protected from the elements, whether it
rain, snow, wind, etc.
Put in the Roof
You may affix windows straight to the
outer wall outside of the home. Secure
the window to the house by driving
roofing nails through its mounting flange
and into its frame, then caulk the flange
to prevent water from leaking in. Once
the window is in place, a 1x4 structure
may be used to finalize the appearance.
Place the Windows in
Position
Prefabricated railing systems may be
found at most home improvement shops.
Add extra support to the balusters by
gluing them in place and then finishing
nailing them in place. It must first be built
to tie the rail to the porch posts erected
in Step 3.
Construct a Porch
Railing
Your creativity with the design is limitless.
Whether it's on custom pieces,
decorations, or themes, it doesn't matter;
you can accommodate the flavours and
styles of any child. This is a significant step
to let the kids participate in, and they may
get just as much value out of helping as
they will out of playing in the completed
project.
Go All Out with Your
Designs
A playhouse may be a fun family project
that everyone can get involved with.
There are various playhouses, ranging
from simple playhouses to fort-like
playhouses. You may use these playhouse
plans to build a fun space for your children
to have fun. Make it a location where you
and your children may develop joyful
memories together.

OUTDATED HOME DESIGNS THAT WILL DEVALUE YOUR HOUSE
Outdated Home Designs that will
Devalue Your House
Specific design trends linger long, while others go away in months or years. When making home improvements, it is essential
to think about how you might increase the value of your property and how you could be decreasing it. The more interested
buyers you'll have when a home goes on the market. So here are some outdated designs that might affect your home's value.
"Fast furniture" is a low-cost design that you know
you'll get rid of in a few seasons, so you purchase it. In
the mid-1980s, these simple-to-assemble designs
became viral, and they've been continuing strong ever
since. Antiquing and reusing vintage furniture is
experiencing a renaissance. Reducing trash while
amassing unique, sentimental items is possible via this
method.
1 Fast Furniture
Furniture made of wicker may be uncomfortable.
Sections of the garment can come undone if the weave
isn't tight enough. Chairs made of woven fabrics, such
as linen, may be used to add texture to a space. It's
common for outdoor wicker furniture to come with
additional throw cushions and other comforting
accouterments.
3 Wicker Furniture
The cost is a significant obstacle for many individuals.
High-end genuine leather is significantly more resistant
to scratches and scuffs than lower-quality leather. Some
of your family members may like jumping or playing on
the couch, such as youngsters or dogs. Leather couches
may not be as forgiving as "bouncier" fabric cushions for
roughhousing.
5 Oversized Leather
Sofas
Wood paneling can warp or distort if the paneling is not
done correctly. Because wood naturally loses moisture,
oiling is a necessary maintenance step. In brick and
mortar homes, wood paneling has been used from the
earliest days. It doesn't matter how you design it. It
appears dated and out of place in today's buildings.
2 Wood Paneling
Granite has numerous benefits, but it also has several
drawbacks and issues. There are several issues with
granite stones, including their price and installation
costs. Due to the time-consuming mortar adhesion and
behind-the-stone mortaring. In the early 2000s, we saw
a lot of black granite being used in kitchens, which led to
an overuse of a single material. Accents are more
effective now, and a minimalist contemporary look with
lighter materials is increasingly commonplace.
4 Granite Overload
Silk bedding has a retro vibe that harkens back to a
bygone era. You can't go wrong with a silk pillowcase
and an alternative material for your duvet when it
comes to bedding. If you take care of your silk bedding,
you won't have a problem. To clean your silk sheets,
follow these easy steps in the washing machine. Use
lukewarm water and a moderate cycle to wash your silk
sheets and pillows. If your silk pillowcase loses its shine,
use a cold iron to bring it back to life.
