The Bigapede is described as the largest insect in the world, measuring 1 meter long and 50 cm wide, living high in the mountains of Skidamainia. It eats sunflowers in the summer and stored food in the winter, and can live up to 23 years, though it is slow. With only 30 remaining in the country, Skidamainia works to protect its national symbol, the Bigapede, which demonstrates strength surviving the coldest winters.
