Amaia Montero is a Spanish singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the band La Oreja de Van Gogh from 1996 to 2007. She has sold over 6.5 million albums worldwide between her work with the band and her solo career post-2007. After studying chemistry and psychology, she joined La Oreja de Van Gogh in 1996 and they recorded several successful albums together. In 2008, she released her first solo album titled Amaia Montero which debuted at number one in Spain, selling over 40,000 copies.
