Crossing the obstacles of the
Circuito Solar EPM 2016 race:
roughness, slope and shadow.
Main goal
Research question:
How to determine the most
appropriate type of wheels,
transmition system (pulley,
chain, gear, etc), capture and
storage of energy, number of
engines, traction and mass
distribution for vehicle powered
by photovoltaic solar energy
able to move in a straight line as
fast as possible, from point A to
point B, crossing
different obstacles (roughness,
slope and shadow).
To design and build a vehicle
powered by photovoltaic solar
energy able to move in a
straight line as fast as possible,
from point A to point B,
crossing different obstacles
(roughness, slope and shadow)
through the evaluation of
different variables (traction,
wheels, mass distribution,
numbers of motors,
transmission system, capture
and storage of energy) on a
base prototype.
Specific goals:
-To determine the most appropiate
transmition system (pulley, chain,
gear, etc) to build a
vehicle powered by photovoltaic
solar energy able to move in a
straight line as fast as possible,
from point A to point B, crossing
different obstacles (roughness,
elevations and shadow).
-To determine the most appropriate
mass distribution to build a vehicle
powered by photovoltaic solar
energy able to move in a straight
line as fast as possible, from point
A to point B, crossing different

shadow).

number of engines to build a
vehicle powered by photovoltaic
