Some Niger Delta activists and civil rights lawyers have sued the Federal Government and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in court. They are asking the court to stop NDDC from accessing its 2015 budget appropriation. The activists want NDDC to release certified copies of how it spent the N309 billion appropriated to it in 2014 before accessing further funds. They argue that NDDC's refusal to provide the requested information violates their right to information under Nigerian law. The court will issue a judgment on the case on June 12, 2015.
