SC refuses stay onAPdivision 21hoursago
Entire media and public attention in Andhra Pradesh turned on to Supreme Court of India
where case against Andhra Pradesh division came for hearing. Supreme Court after hearing
to the PILs filed by various groups, NGOs and politicians like Undavalli Arun Kumar,
Lagadapati Rajagopal and others made it clear that it cannot interfere in the Andhra Pradesh
division process at present.
The court however issued notices to Union Government on the issue, seeking its reply with
in 6 weeks. SC posted the case to 28th August for further hearing. People approached SC
seeking its interference as the AP reorganisation bill was passed in the Parliament. Though
many leaders and advocates approached Supreme Court regarding AP division earlier,
Supreme Court refused to entertain the PILs stating time was not ripe and asked to approach
it at the right time.
Even former CM of Andhra Pradesh approached Supreme Court against Andhra Pradesh
division after the bill was passed in both houses of Parliament. Before approaching Supreme
Court he even resigned from CM post and from the Congress party.
