The narrator and others wait in the cold for their morning coffee and bread, hoping it will be a miraculous amount to warm them. A man appears on the balcony and hands out one small crumb of bread and single drop of coffee each. Though hoping for a miracle, it is clear there will be no miracle. The narrator imagines their small crumb transforming into a beautiful villa over time through natural processes, allowing them to sit and drink gallons of coffee each morning.
