3) The vision reflects 1 Corinthians 12 about how Christians are all parts of the one body of Christ.
1. The passage describes Jesus and his disciples being caught in a fierce storm on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples woke Jesus, afraid they would drown, and asked "don't you care if we drown?".
2. Jesus then rebuked the wind and waves, commanding them to be still. The storm immediately stopped.
3. Jesus chided the disciples for their lack of faith, asking why they were afraid when he had power over even nature.

U.S. workers, especially millennials, want meaning and purpose in their work. They seek jobs where they can use their talents daily and have work-life balance. The Bible discusses work as a necessary result of humanity's fall from grace and describes toil as meaningless without finding satisfaction and pleasure in work itself and doing it for God. The document questions what people chase and work for if all their labor will ultimately be for nothing.
1. Adam and Eve hide from God after eating the forbidden fruit from the tree.
2. God questions Adam and Eve about eating the fruit. Adam blames Eve, and Eve blames the serpent.
3. God punishes all three - the serpent will crawl on its belly, Eve will have pain in childbirth, and Adam will have to toil to produce food from the ground. Their relationship with God and each other is broken.
1) The document discusses humanity's creation in God's image and their role of ruling over creation, cultivating the earth.
2) It presents views from early Christian thinkers like Eusebius of Caesarea who saw two types of lives - a perfect spiritual life and a permitted physical life, which wrongly narrowed the scope of calling.
3) The key idea is that work is humanity's divine calling since creation to partner with God and further His purposes through cultivating and creating.
The document describes the creation story from Genesis 1-2 in the Bible. It recounts each of the six days of creation, with God creating light, the sky, land, plants, stars, sea creatures, animals, and finally humans on the sixth day. On the seventh day God rested. It then discusses the concept of work and Sabbath, portraying God as a laborer through metaphors like gardener, shepherd, and potter. Finally, it suggests Christians abide in Christ's presence even during stressful work through humility, patience, and finding identity and worth in God rather than work performance or status.
This document discusses various ways that Christians relate to and experience God, including through obedience to God's laws, surrendering control to God, finding purpose in God, and experiencing God's love. It also discusses Jesus praying that Christians would be united with God and each other to spread God's message. The document lists spiritual disciplines like meditation, prayer, fasting and study that Christians can practice to open themselves to worshipping God. Quotes emphasize that a relationship with God is about pursuing God rather than actions, and that the deepest level of connection is wordless communion.
This document contains multiple Bible passages and quotes on different topics. It discusses God leading the Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years and teaching them to not live on bread alone but every word from God. It also contains a quote about when taken too far, the pursuit of comfort and avoidance of pain can make us spiritual lepers. The document reflects on different ways people relate to God and contains prayers to Jesus for help.
This document contains several Bible verses and passages about God and eternal life. It discusses how God loved the world and gave his son so that all who believe in him will not perish but have eternal life. Another passage emphasizes that eternal life is knowing God as the one true God and Jesus Christ whom he sent. The document encourages focusing life on God.
The document discusses remaining and abiding in Jesus in order to bear fruit. It explains that branches must remain connected to the vine in order to bear fruit and warns that branches that do not remain will wither and be burned. It encourages readers to remain in Jesus through abiding in his word and teachings.
This document provides guidance for conducting a daily spiritual reflection called an "examen". It involves reflecting on the experiences of the day to see God's presence and action. This enables gaining wisdom for the future. It recommends opening your eyes and asking God for clarity, practicing gratitude in both joyful and disappointing moments, and reviewing the past year to identify a season of joy and disappointment. Tiles can represent these to express gratitude and ask for help. Finally, it quotes Psalm 77 about remembering God's deeds and miracles, and meditating on his mighty works.
An angel appeared to shepherds watching over their flocks at night and told them the good news that a Savior, the Messiah, had been born in Bethlehem. The angel was joined by a great company of angels praising God. The shepherds went to Bethlehem and found Mary, Joseph, and the baby Jesus lying in a manger, just as the angel had said. They spread the word of what they had seen and experienced to all who would listen.
Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked King Herod where the Messiah had been born, as they had seen his star rise and wanted to worship him. Herod consulted Jewish priests and teachers who said the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Herod secretly met with the Magi and instructed them to find the child and report back so he could also worship him. The Magi followed the star to Bethlehem and found Jesus with Mary. They worshiped him and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, then returned home another way after being warned not to report to Herod.
This document discusses the concept of justice through several biblical passages and stories. It references the ideas of fair treatment, equality, and protecting the vulnerable. Key events mentioned include the birth of Jesus, the flight into Egypt to escape King Herod, and the subsequent massacre of innocent children in Bethlehem. The document concludes with a benediction calling for blessings of discomfort over injustice, anger to confront oppression, tears for those suffering, and hope that we can make a positive difference in the world.
The document contains passages from the Bible describing Jesus Christ. John 1:1-5 describes Jesus as the Word of God who was present at the creation of all things and is the light and life of all people. Isaiah 9:2-7 prophesies that a child will be born who will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace and whose government and reign will have no end. Isaiah 7:14 contains the prophecy that a virgin will conceive and bear a son whose name will be called Immanuel.
This document contains sections from 1 Peter 4-5 where Peter discusses how Christians should respond to suffering. He encourages believers to remain self-controlled, loving, hospitable and using their gifts to serve others. When suffering, Christians should rejoice that they share in Christ's suffering and not be ashamed, but glorify God. Elders are instructed to shepherd God's flock willingly and not domineering, being examples of humility. All believers are urged to be humble under God's hand and resist the devil, knowing other Christians also suffer and God will restore and strengthen them.
The document discusses how Christians should live according to passages from the Bible. It encourages believers to live good lives among non-believers so that they may see their good deeds and glorify God. Christians should respect authority, serve God rather than break rules, and treat others with dignity. They should be good servants and wives/husbands, responding to their spouse's needs, as a way to honor God and draw others to faith through their holy behavior. The example is to follow Jesus who suffered without complaint so believers may be freed from sin.
The document contains passages from 1 Peter that encourage Christians to live holy lives as obedient children of God. It instructs believers to not conform to evil desires but to be holy in all aspects of life, as God is holy. Christians are called to live in reverent fear as foreigners on earth and to remember that they were redeemed from an empty life through the blood of Christ, not with perishable silver and gold. The document emphasizes living set apart lives in every area, including church, family, work, and social interactions.
Peter wrote this letter to elect exiles scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia. He wrote to strengthen their faith and remind them of God's grace in causing them to be born again through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The document discusses tithing, which is giving 10% of one's produce or livestock to God. Several Bible passages are cited that instruct people to tithe every year and eat a portion of the tithe in God's presence. If the place where God dwells is too far, one can exchange the tithe for silver and use it to buy goods to celebrate with one's household in God's presence. Every three years, tithes should be stored in towns to provide for Levites and the needy. Tithing is meant to teach people to revere God and make them generous givers.
The document describes Peter's vision of being told by God not to call unclean what he has made clean. This leads Peter to visit Cornelius, a Roman centurion. When Peter preaches to Cornelius and others, the Holy Spirit falls upon them, astonishing the Jewish believers present. Peter realizes God has shown him to no longer see Gentiles as impure. Cornelius and the others are then baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
The document discusses the importance of hospitality based on several biblical passages. It notes that hospitality was shown to strangers and those in need. Not showing hospitality results in justice not being manifested in the world and creates a moral eclipse from the Son. The document encourages reflection on these ideas.

The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.
Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
