Janet Elizabeth Casey Matriculation Number: 070012904 Fine Art 3rd Year Second Semester Portfolio of work for assessments. Erasmus Exchange: Konstfack, Stockholm, Sweden. Tutors: Johanna Billing, Thomas Elovsson and Gunilla Bandolin.
Janet Casey Statement of Intent – This body of work was all done in Stockholm Sweden a completely new location for me. I am very interested in working with my surrounding environment and like to see what different outcomes I produce from change of location. The following pieces are all linked to my impression of a natural environment intheurban surrounding of Stockholm. While in Sweden I did a MA course “Fieldwork In Sweden”, where I started to investigate my observations of the natural conditionsofStockholm city, this thinking motivated the work for the semester. In the work I used natural matter which I found around the city and integrated it into photography, print and sculpture. The work reflects my interaction made in the new urban/natural setting with specific attention to what I saw and experienced. Some of the work was part of an exhibition of fine art students from Konstfack, This IS A Given, This is Unknown. The selection of work for the exhibition was titled “Impressions” .
